Sly Lamp

This pendant luminaire, designed by Ding 3000 for online design retailer SKITSCH, is the latest member of the mega-successful family of 2D LED lamps. Like the original table and floor lamps, the shape mocks traditional lamp forms. The structure is deceivingly bare and even looks unfunctional, but recessed into its framework are inconspicuous strips of bright LED lights. A clever design that’s sure to make a great conversation piece.

Its a VERY nice design, but these three renders are way to similar and boring. We see the same exact information in each view .. and no people or furniture for scale / reference / interest.

Interesting idea, shame about the presentation. Some pointers from a 3D artist: 1) Turn on area shadows and radiosity for your final renders; 2) Have some furniture and maybe a person for scale; 3) Set up ambient light sources, don’t just have the light fitting as the only source. A good 3D render is 5% modelling, 10% textures and 85% lighting. Pay attention to your lighting and shadows, get that right and the rest will fall into place. 🙂
