What’s Up On The Ceiling?

A Fan! On one hand we have futuristic Dyson-esque Bladeless Fans seeking our attention and on the other we have a retro beauty vying for love. The Loft Wing kinda reminds me of the traditional fans or Punkahs that were attached to strings and pulled by diligent Punkahwalas in ancient Indian kingdoms. This one of course is modern enough to include a motor that performs the swinging motion.

The Loft Wing:

  • The Loft Wing is a dramatic new ceiling fan destined to become a classic of innovative green design whose gentle sweeping motion imbues any large room with a relaxing atmosphere while sipping only 15watts of electricity – creating a light and natural breeze.
  • It is ideal for lofts, large residential rooms, lobbies, restaurants and public & private buildings where unused airspace will be instantly transformed into a dynamic attraction by its artful, sophisticated look and easy motion.
  • The 9’-6 x 4’-6” fabric wing can be ordered in a variety of colors
  • High strength carbon fiber tapered rods maintain the wing’s shape and fluid motion.
  • A high quality German geared motor powers the Loft Fan’s mechanism smoothly and quietly.
  • High performance ball bearings for trouble free operation.
  • Precision engineered and machined from 6061 aircraft aluminum.
  • Custom ceiling mounts available for nearly every ceiling configuration.
  • Custom colors applied to the mechanism are also available.
  • Twenty signature editions signed by the designer are available at no extra cost.
  • Base price: $9,745

  • Wow, this is some original thinking… I like it. Just one thing: it requires a higher ceiling to be installed.

Almost 10K – base price – for a ceiling fan? I grasp that’s good looking, “engineered” and whatnot, but it’s still ridiculous. Although, with some extra gold accents in places, I’m pretty sure the trump will buy 100lbs of these…

I live in Indonesia, the (above)average Local wage is $200 per month, after a rough conversion the cost of this fan is equivalent to the wages for 4 people for a year!
