Making Your Own Clock

The Meaning of Time is a brilliant clock concept perfect for all those crafty people out there. It supplies the mechanism to keep time, you supply the hour and minute hands. You can use just about anything as long as it fits thru the holes. I myself am partial to a barrel of monkeys. Perhaps a picture string of ex-lovers or even more sinister ants trapped inside a glass tube.

When I first saw that photo and that headline I thought it said “make your own cock”. True story.

Its a novel idea, customizing the hands, artsy in a practical way (I love clocks).

pencils and stuff would fall out the holes as they are too short for the weight. Plus - how do you get the right width. Good idea without thinking it through - the holes need to be ‘engineered’ (ie. made to work) to fulfill the design.

Awesome concept!

I agree with flyboy, the holes could be improved, but I still love it

I like the simplicity of the design too as it is neutral to the end design of the clock. Add me to the list of eager potential buyers of this object.

Yah can be improved… In terms of making it into real product, exploration such as what is the energy used to moves the holes around, as the designer says FIT in anything…..

Sometimes, after looking into the mechanical factor, not only idea and design, it may affect the form again… and again….

With engineered holes, this will be beautiful! Think about changing the look of your clock as and when you get tired of what you see on your wall…

I want!

great idea one question tho,?

How does it compensate for items that are different in weight/length? i long twig or pencil will generate a different resistance to that of a silver spoon or weighter item. minute/hour hands are usually very light items so as not to interfere with the accuracy of the time keeping.

where is the powersource. Nice in theory tho, but show me the reality..!
