Living in L.A. means dealing with desert heat and the dry conditions that accompany it. I’ve used a number of humidifiers in the past and tho all performed as expected – they always ended back in the box relegated to the back of a closet. After using the FRED Humidifer by Swizz Style for several weeks, I’ve come to realize why my closet is filled with a bunch of past contenders.

Knives scare the hell out of me. Sharpening knives is pretty much out of the question. I’m no Chao San Poi. But this fully-enclosed knife sharpener seems to be the key to precise cuts for those who only like to be near the blunt side of the blade.

The SENZ Umbrella is the most unique umbrella I’ve ever seen and used and that’s saying a lot because how “designed” can an umbrella be? What makes the SENZ different is its aerodynamic shape which keeps rain off your back and withstands up to 70 mph winds. I tried it out and found a couple other unique features that make this umbrella a must have for any rain drenched area.

During his studies at H.I.T., Moti Barzilay had to design something iconic in the realm of Apple products – something he felt was missing from their lineup. He came up with the iShow. Yes another “i” meme. It’s a portable projector designed for Apple’s line of iPods, iPhones, and MacBooks. The clam inspired body turns on when you pull the two discs apart to expose a pico projector and ports. He doesn’t mention pixel resolution but the projection system is LED based and no you can’t use it as a Yo-Yo.

When I think of pipe smoking, I imagine an older generation of men sitting around reading newspapers or conversing about times gone by. Yet with this new and sleek pipe design by Hakan Bogazpinar, I can see a much more hip, younger crowd partaking in its’ pleasures. Eolos is our modern day pipe. With a smooth, almost aerodynamic design, it looks the Ferrari for pipe smokers.

A belt with three GIANT suction cups for you to hitch onto anything. That’s exactly what the Hitch concept is by designer Robert Nightingale. He believes in a free world where opportunistic travelers just latch themselves onto moving vehicles. The triple load vacuum suction cups are strong enough to keep you from flying off. Just a little accessory unisex enough for anyone to wear. Clip Language are paper clips with emotive objects emphasizing an emotion. Clip it on anything to let people know how you feel. Imagine a world where the most mundane objects loosely communicate what you’re thinking without speaking a word. It’s just a novel concept but one I wouldn’t mind having in reality.

While automatic lawn and crop sprinklers have existed for some time, the Aquarius takes automatic watering to a new level. While current automatic sprinklers activate on a time-based schedule, Aquarius detects moisture levels in the soil and waters according to changing conditions. No more sprinkling in rainstorms for you!

Business cards have become less of a way to disseminate contact information and more about brand extension, so it makes no sense to spend so much money on them only to be thrown out after someone transcribes all the relevant information into an address book. The B-Scanner helps with both aspects.

Eco Box is a concept to change the way we ripen, harvest, and deliver fresh fruit. The box is “packaged” around a fruit with plenty of holes for air circulation. The fruit is allowed to ripen this way reaching its full sweet potential. The box protects the fruit from insects and when it’s ready, picked and ready to be sold.
