I know many of you don’t take very kindly to ideas that proclaim to be GREEN, but lets give this Blister Radio a chance to explain itself. Replacing the usual injection-molded casing with vacuum-formed packaging components, this little fella’ is made from PLA. For the uninitiated, PLA is biodegradable, thermoplastic, aliphatic polyester got from renewable resources like cornstarch and sugarcane.

No matter how much we progress as far as technology is concerned, we always look back towards retro stalwarts for inspiration in the designing field. NVDRS Tape foxes around in the Cassette Tape construction but is actually a digital player. Deceptive looks aside, the player continues to follow the 45/60/90 minutes norm, holding 10/15/20 select songs in digital format; uploaded via USB.

There is a lot of scope for improvement in the light-switch industry. Intuitive touch sensitive panels have replaced the click-on click-off types. All you need is deep pockets and a sense of aesthetics to incorporate panels like the Revio. The panel boasts of eight program scene buttons, power button, dim/bright control, infrared receiver, program from iCAN network, flash memory, panel ‘clean’ switch and more!

When I first read the mail from the designer (Christian Precht) of this project, I thought it was Jesus Christ the Son of God and Industrial Design! Turns out Christian Precht isn’t devine, just a clever renderer and a super designer. Precht’s product is called “Add-it-on,” and it’s organic. Clip on, clip on, LEDs to light your night so you can keep on, keep on.

I’m sure you remember the ipod speakers made out of twine and bubblegum, right? Well here, also, lives on the spirit of the greatest Industrial Designer of an age: The MacGyver. Yes, the man that can conjure anything in a strangely simple way. Here, designer Donell Hutson continues the legend by attaching a square mirror to a 5 LED light array.

Warning Bulb enables you to visually check your electricity usage. It’s well known greenhouse gases source most of its CO2 from power plants. The generated electricity is not always put to efficient use. 11% of the power is wasted through plugged in idle appliances. The idea behind Warning Bulb is to prevent wasted energy by showing you how much money you’re spending and how fast.

You are lucky my friend that you can read this post. Being sight-impaired is not a situation you want to be in. It gets even more complicated if you are blind and can’t even read Braille. Luckily there is some though process being invested in the Braille Interpreter, a single-finger glove that features a tactile sensor, a Bluetooth headphone and interpreting software.

Self-confessed retro lover is here to tell you about this remarkable find! Bringing a modern-day charm to the long-forgotten LP player is the Zero. 1. It’s a CD Player that can also play the vinyl records. What’s really unique is that a system has been incorporated where the device is able to “read” the gaps between the tracks, memorize them, and make it selectable, quite like how you would do with a CD.

Hear the words of Yi-Luen Tan, this guitar’s “an evolution of man’s quest to create a figure and form that resonates sonically, visually, and philosophically of the times in which he resides.” Whoa doggy. The balance is different – less weight in the neck. But the ability to tune from the body, is it worth it? How well will you strum? At what cost a new ax?

Why do ski boots have to hurt? Shouldn’t skiers enjoy the same comfort as snowboarders do? The right design can make it easier to release pressure from the buckles when needed without having to undo the bottom of your pants. The POC Tarsus boots eschews buckles for laces connected to a tension wheel you dial in for the perfect fit. I’m a snowboarder, not a skier so I can’t comment on how comfortable this might be. Any skiiers wanna chime in?

I’ve seen folding headphones before but this one is a little different. There are 2 joints from which you can adjust the headphone size and pivot them into a moon shaped packaged. The final collapsed package keeps the delicate speakers away from would be sharp objects and makes the entire thing much easier to pack.
