Translucent Seclusion, Live in a Bubble
This is the second project from Swiss design group Micasa Lab that I’m in love with. The Cocoon 1 is a sit in, chill in, relax in, live in bubble with reconfigurable cushions to really personalize the space. I think it’s a genius idea. A retreat that simultaneously informs the world of your need for solitude while giving you full access to the world around you. Plus, this revives memories of that terrible excellent movie Bubble Boy about a man born without an immune system so he has to live inside a bubble. Good stuff.

I’m interested in this for my autistic son. Quite often he is overwhelmed with too many sounds. It is fairly soundproof? Where can I buy this? How much does it cost?

I too have an auty kid. Short for autistic.anyway I’d like to purchase to because he loves the rain. It would b so special for him and I too sit together.

Did you find out anything about where you can buy it?

It’s a “Plastic ball”. Wow.. Where do these geniuses come up with this stuff(sarcasm). Someone made these for hamsters many years ago. Get you a water proof tent, open the flap to see out and wala, same thing but with more room. Some people simply amaze me on how they can waste time on things like this, but can’t put it to good use like helping others that really need it. But instead using it to make over sized hamster exercise ball. Keep up the good work, lol

@ Heather … sarcastically calling someone a genius in the same comment as misspelling the word “voila”. Priceless.

How much and where can I buy it

guys who are asking about price and a like button, at the top there is a hyperlink. the blue word cocoon 1. takes you to a place to buy it and a like button. says estimated £3000, fall 2013.
http://cocoonlife.ch/ <-thats where it takes you if the button's not working.
someone said it looked uncomfortable. you realise you don't have to just use the cushions it comes with? you can put beanbag chairs in it or whatever.
Hunter says
For want of a like button, I was referring to Peggy’s comment above (“Sarcastically calling someone a genius in the same comment as misspelling the word ‘voila’. Priceless.”), but thanks for sharing!

What I do like is the concept. Where I live it rains a lot, so I would use this as a place to just relax and read a book dry, while at the same time beeing outdoor and listen to the rain hitting the bubble. What I don’t like is the price. I would want this one in a really simple configuration, and would be interested for half the price.
