It Was A Rock Lobster

It Was A Rock Lobster

Anytime I can get one of the best lyrics from the B52’s into a blog post, I’m there. I’m not just pulling this out of thin air tho. This multimedia device is called the Lobster and if you squint really hard, the segmented pieces sorta look like a lobster’s tail.

I'm Going Behind The Stove

I’m Going Behind The Stove

EU VEGN DAVO PIGNA is Rhaeto-Romanic and can be translated literally as “I am going behind the stove.” This expression is used when parting and means, “I am going home now.” The stove is an analogy for warmth and coziness. That’s the idea behind this bench/chaise lounge.

You Ain't Leavin' Til I Say So

You Ain’t Leavin’ Til I Say So

No it’s not some diabolical machine aimed at enslaving the human race. It’s a chair, and a very comfy, cushy one too. The Trapped Chair keeps you locked down until it decides when to let you go. Until then, you’ll just have to given in and relax. Remember kids, resistance is futile. Just think of it as a really creepy hug from that kid everyone at school laughs at, but he means no harm.

Time Doesn't Have To Be That Accurate

Time Doesn’t Have To Be That Accurate

This is for all those people that never give you the exact time when you ask them. Face it, most of us do it. When we look at an analog clock, we don’t think 6:22, we think 6:20. Rounding off seems to be the fastest way to read time sans a digital watch.

Making That Notebook Into A Desktop

Making That Notebook Into A Desktop

The whole idea of notebook docks was interesting 10+ years ago when we had to be frugal with our I/O ports and live with subpar LCD screens. Now that notebooks have pretty much caught up with desktops, do we really need another docking solution? According to designer Yong-Seong Kim, we do.

Formable Furniture

Formable Furniture

So you get a couple of interlocking pieces that stiffen at the pull of a wire cable. By manipulating the tension, you can make all kinds of crazy shapes strong enough to act as shelving, seating, or flooring. It’s a little blah looking but crafty people might enjoy decorating each slat, maybe to form a mural or to create random flowing patterns depending on the final form.

Kinda Like Hypercolor For Babies

Kinda Like Hypercolor For Babies

Newborns and infants spend almost all their time in the arms of their loving parents. The Daddy & Baby clothing set generates thermochromic patterns when body heat is applied. The special pigment was designed by Matsui Shikiso Chemical of Japan and is a great way to show one love to your baby, or just to relieve those days of Hypercolor t-shirts, YEA!

Draw It Out

Draw It Out

A cellphone with a touchpad used to write. The idea is to create a phone without all the bells and whistles for people who just want a basic phone to make calls and send text messages. Using hand writing recognition software, the touchpad translate your finger strokes into letters.

Other than being a concept already a reality with PDA phones,  this concept seems about 5+ years behind.

Two Brix Are Better Than One

Two Brix Are Better Than One

We here at Yanko have seen tons of concepts that attempt to bridge the idea of sharing not only content, but screen real estate with other similar devices. Unfortunately most of those concepts fall flat because they don’t seem to understand the need for a minimalistic approach in order for it to work. The Brix is one of the few that does it right.
