Rubik Cube for Blind by Zhiliang Chen

There are six different basic materials involved. They are Metal, wood, textile, rubber, plastic and stone. Different materials give people different senses, which thus enabled the blind men to play. And here we present the very example of this inspiration – The new Rubik Cube.

How do you purchase it for a school that has the visually impaired

I have an Idea for a new, more modern-looking cube. Make it all stainless steel with inlaid dots or outlines of color. I have been looking all over the internet for something like this, and so far, it doesn’t exist. I wanted to buy something truly unique and the stainless steel finish always seems to catch my attention.

Nice to look at (for those of us who aren’t blind) but is it a speed cube? Is there a braille cube in the works?

I was doing the cube behind my back with different designs I put on the cube using masking tape, over 20 years ago. I could do it in about 3 minutes in those days. I think this design is a cool alternative idea. I mean after all anyone can do the cube looking at it…hehehe

It’s a gag. Look at the SIZE of the thing. You can make your own with different weights of adhesive sandpaper. Cut to fit.

I don’t think it’s for sale, it’s a design example, designers produce things like this all the time to show off their imagination, so that potential clients will know their name.

Should be easy to make, though! Get a cheap Rubik’s cube, and some different feeling materials. Velcro, fabric, rubber, would be good. Have the school children make their own, have an exhibition of all their ideas. Let them suggest their own materials to use.

You can’t, but what you can do is find different sheets of different materials and get a Rubik’s cube. You could cut squares about 1.6 cm. wide and tall and superglue or hot glue them on the cube. I would recommend taking the stickers off first. Try it and let me know how it works!
