My Alarm Clock is Not a Movie or Maybe

My Alarm Clock is Not a Movie or Maybe

Described by its designers as an attempt to change our perception of time with a good dose of minimalism, the Minutuner is as simple as an alarm clock can get. Obviously influenced by a perception of time as a linear flow, it brings to mind the progress bars below our everpresent online video players, contextualizing our lives as finite things to be lived well and with no regrets. While not immediately available, it’s looking for partners in production, so keep your fingers crossed.

Paranoid About Privacy? Put a Lid on it

Paranoid About Privacy? Put a Lid on it

Nicolas Lehotzky notice a niche trend among Mac users with built-in webcams Many cover it with post-it notes out of privacy concerns even tho there’s no way to turn it on without actively doing so. He created a little “lid” accessory if you will, that slides across the top of the screen bezel. If ever you feel like you’re being watched, just slide the cover over that tiny webcam lens and rest assured, even the best hackers aren’t going to be able to see what you do home alone.

New Mac Mini Concept, OMG It's not Boxed Shaped!

New Mac Mini Concept, OMG It’s not Boxed Shaped!

With rumors of a new Mac Mini on the horizon, designer Sait Alanyali, a proud Mac Mini user, decided to throw in his 2 cents. One of his gripes with the current machine are the I/O ports. It’s a pain to plug things in/out and so the “V” shape brings the ports within reach while keeping cables at bay. The shape also improves cooling as air moves freely thru the heatsink now that it’s not sitting on a flat surface.

World's Largest Mouse

World’s Largest Mouse

If you thought your premium mouse had a lot of buttons, check out the Glide Keyboard from Weston Boege. Resting on low friction pads, the keyboard slides around your desk picking up the movement through an optical sensor mounted underneath. The keyboard also integrates traditional mousing controls into the moulded palm rest that grips your hands as they move. Can’t say it’s a bad idea, although I can see having trouble typing when half the keys are fused together.

Don't Die Mac Mini Don't Die!

Don’t Die Mac Mini Don’t Die!

The rumormill is full of reports about Apple supposedly killing off the Mac Mini due to lackluster sales. Earlier last week, those rumors were confounded by new rumors about Apple only updating the Mac Mini which explains why the old model can’t be found in stock. Whatever the truth may be, that didn’t stop designers like Mac Funamizu from dreaming up a new Mac Mini, more inline with Apple’s current offerings.

Hanging Hard Drives

Hanging Hard Drives

Portable hard drives are not really THAT portable if you have to tote around another peripheral but maybe you should have bought a laptop with a bigger hard drive! OOO Zing! No I didn’t! Yes, yes I did just go there. Kidding aside, the Hang it On hard drive encloser lets you hang you 2.5″ companion off the back of your lappie’s LCD screen. Sure, now your MacBook Air looks like it has a tumor growing off it’s svelt lines but at least you’ll get more than a measily 80 GB.

Suffice to say the company famous for not delivering on a gaming dream has delivered a pretty decent gaming/multimedia keyboard and mouse. The Phantom Lapboard was originally designed to accompany a console gaming system that never arrived.

He has taken the need for a bulky monitors right out of the equation and opted for beaming your YouTubing onto any surface you can point the omni-directional projector at.

From RFID clothing tags and eBooks (Kindle) to running monitors (Nike/iPod) and even cars that respond to your voice (Ford Sync). Why not get a daily does of information stimulation while you have your morning brew? That’s what the designers of “The Cup” have in mind.

Pimp my QWERTY

Pimp my QWERTY

With the tech blogs getting all hot and bothered over Art Lebedev’s Optimus Maximus keyboard and it’s customizable OLED keys, we thought we would show off a slightly more analog version of the same concept. At no where near the Optimus Maximus price of nearly $2,000 USDs, this $30 version called “Keyboard Shortcut Skins” by Photojojo serves essentially the exact same function.

Music And Computers

Music And Computers

As a musician myself, turning sheet music is the bane of my art. Ok I confess. I haven’t touched a musical instrument since the 11th grade but I did play for almost 8 years so there! Back to the subject at hand, the CLEF system consists of a flexible LCD touch screen with a built-in stand and a wireless foot pedal.
