All The Cool Kids Wear Air Jordan Prosthetics

3D printing has become an incredibly powerful tool to customize one-off products for differing applications. This project was based on using this technology to design a customized prosthetic leg for a specific user- a young, urban, male athlete. Nike was chosen as an appropriate brand to bring form to the leg. It also required familiarizing oneself with the emotional, medical, lifestyle, and physical changes the user would encounter.

Hanging Hard Drives

Portable hard drives are not really THAT portable if you have to tote around another peripheral but maybe you should have bought a laptop with a bigger hard drive! OOO Zing! No I didn’t! Yes, yes I did just go there. Kidding aside, the Hang it On hard drive encloser lets you hang you 2.5″ companion off the back of your lappie’s LCD screen. Sure, now your MacBook Air looks like it has a tumor growing off it’s svelt lines but at least you’ll get more than a measily 80 GB.

No you are not looking at a comforter set for break dancers. This ingenious design called “Le Clochard” by SNURK is a great way to be reminded of the daily plight of the world’s homeless. Proceeds from the sale of these duvet sets will aid homeless shelters around the globe and bring new awareness to one of the oldest issues that plagues humanity.

I am working on my aunt’s house refurbishing project, and if I were working on the roof and didn’t mind looking like a big fan of “Chips,” I’d pick Michael Oosthuizen’s new safety helmet concept any day.

This lack of understanding between the two can lead to health problems, for serious. So if we could keep track of how our emotions and bodies relate, what would that look like?

Illuminated Magnets

You all remember playing with magnets when you were little right? Just for a little nostalgia, check out the Magnetic Lamp by Seokmoon Woo. It’s designed to look like the classic horseshoe magnet but it glows! Just stick it to any conducting metal (steel is of preference) and the rubber switch attached to the feet switches the light on. Arrange a whole mess of them for a dynamic architectural mural of magnetic lights.

Fire Hose Illuminates Your Smoldering Memories

Because of a fire’s tendency to disrupt a building’s power supply, Firefighters often lack enough light to effectively douse the flames. To help fix this problem, Duck Image co.’s Aurora hose nozzle uses an internal turbine to power eight LED’s that light up and refract off of the stream of water. This not only illuminates the direction of their firefighting efforts to other firefighters and victims, but makes for truly awe-inspiring Lightsaber flashlight battles.

A Bird’s Eye View

Skyros is an aerial camera which takes unparalleled overhead photographs. It illuminates a unique bird’s eye view from where one can understand the intimate relationship with the environment in a refreshing new light. If you’re a more cynical reader, just think of it as a way to see what birds see before they do a #2 on your car or worse, you!

Aptus is Latin for suitable, appropriate, or fitting. The Aptus pen is the ultimate in modern writing instruments. Takumi Yoshida wanted to blend elegance with pure functionality. In strict mechanical requirements, pens are very thin. We add volume to it so it fits into our hands better.
