The Fractal Machine was designed to help those with mobile disabilities participate in anaerobic and aerobic exercises as well as those who have a need to rapidly adapt to using a wheelchair. Attachable to almost any standard wheelchair, the unit offers resistance training that focuses on work muscles in the upper body to condition and build the muscles that are used most often. It’s a great fitness solution for athletes and casual users alike.

Sadly, 80% of cervical cancer cases (the 5th most common cancer in women worldwide) occur in low-to-middle income countries where routine checkups & tests aren’t readily available. The Self Smear Test aims to finally provide an economical, easier to operate diagnosis tool that can be operated from the comfort of one’s home. To ensure that users are consistent in their testing, the product includes 6 caps, enough for a 3 year period of testing once every 6 months. Interested to hear what the ladies think about this!

Innovation in Surgical Illumination

The APOLLO concept is a modular lighting system that provides flexibility in operating room illumination through the use of laser technology. Using laser light increases luminous efficiency from 170 lumen/watt opposed to LEDs with 100 lumen/watt and allows for more compact dimensions. Built-in sensors adapt to every situation by changing the direction of light and adjusting brightness autonomously as surgeons move around, allowing them to focus on the task at hand without interruption.

Unlike the average arm sling, the Z-Cured sling was designed to lock in a variety of positions to enhance both comfort and functionality to cater to different types of arm injuries. Made of alloy steel aluminum and durable ABS plastic, the lightweight stabilizer can move with the arm while holding it in a fixed position, maximizing the arms usability while speeding up recovery time.

Synergise is a thoughtful wheelchair add-on, retro-fittable on almost any existing model, that aims to help users navigate more effectively and efficiently. Akin to having bicycle brakes, the ratchet system allows wheelchair users to negotiate angled surfaces with reduced friction and increased efficiency over endurance with reduced risks of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) to the user.

The life of a diabetic involves an exhaustive number of components for monitoring blood glucose levels. The Cactus (hehe) concept combines all the necessities into one compact unit that fits perfectly into the modern lifestyle. One end measures glucose levels and the other injects the insulin amount automatically gauged from the first read. Wireless syncing to smart phones or tablets make it a dream-come-true for doctors and patients, making it possible to record and analyze results in less than half the time. Check out the vid!

Smoke Detector and Mask in 1

Smoke masks and smoke detectors can mean the difference between life and death in the event of a house fire – so why not combine the two?! The first design of its kind, the TaG mask actually detects smoke itself and emits a sound signal that alerts victims and makes it easier to find in a smokey room. This thoughtful hearing aid design called PressureAID aims to expand their participation by providing audio assistance in and out of the water. A specialized skin ensure that it stays secure in the ear canal so the wearer can slip in and out of the water without concern. With an appearance similar to normal earbuds, the design is also a more stylish solution.

The Revival Vest is a self-inflating life jacket that uses Footfalls and Heartbeats smart fabric technology to monitor respiration and physiological changes such as drowning. The fabric detects changes in circumference and stretch around the chest while the diver suppresses breathing. If the wearer blacks out, the body becomes limp and life vest is triggered to inflate and raise the body to the surface for rescue.

Sphere is a modern mobility scooter that expands on the capabilities of the traditional form and makes it possible for the user to not only move while seated, but also crouch, stand, or lay down all without leaving the chair. Secured in the ergonomic seat, the user can switch between positions with predefined buttons and steer with a multidirectional joystick. It’s a great solution that offers more independence to those with impaired mobility.

It’s estimated that near 3 million children die each year from vaccine preventable diseases, or VPDs. This thoughtful vaccination aid program, titled Immune, aims to being awareness to the issue and streamline the vaccination process for healthcare workers. Children are given pendant necklaces with an embedded QR code that works in sync with a smartphone app to provide vaccination schedules and immunization records. Check out the free app here!

Arman Kirm’s Fulcrum crutch design features enhanced ergonomics and functionality that together make life just a little easier whether you’re recovering from an injury or suffering from a permanent mobility impairment. Tactile, silicone grips and an adjustable arm support give relief to tired hands and arms and a wide, rubber bottom tip increases traction and decreases injuries related to slipping. The multifunctional design’s arm support can also be removed, instantly turning Fulcrum from a crutch to a cane!

For those suffering from diabetes, checking blood glucose levels up to 10 times a day can be daunting. The painful finger pricking can be especially disturbing for children. The Blood Buddy was designed to make things a little easier. The testing device takes the form of a whimsical character that can appears to “chomp” on the user’s finger. It’s a great solution for distracting nervous kids from the painful lance and introduces the process in a fun, friendly way!
