Vacuum Packed Suitcase
It’s quite the trend to have suitcases with an expandable hood to accommodate more clothes and stuff. However very few have stopped to consider vacuum packing clothes, to make more space. The Pumpack is one such suitcase design where it includes a pump that helps to compress clothes to make more packing room. For those who are going to complain about creases, I suggest you carry a travel iron. I for one think we need to develop this design thoroughly!
Pumpack is a 2011 red dot design concept winner.

Sorry, but this is not new: Dilbert has been doing this for long… Same applies to canned clothes…

Carry on has weight limits too.

Right, the idea is not new. Eagle Creek has some compression bags that are basically vacuum bags for packing your stuff. You roll them up with your stuff inside to squeeze out the air and they stay compressed. They work really good. I’d just be worried about the handle breaking with so many moving parts if this bag were ever put into production.

I personally still prefer Dilbert’s method, although it is not portable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj2Gg8EC6-0
