Digital Picture Now Comes Stamped
Why would you want a digital camera that doubles up as a rubber stamp? Why? The answer is simple….just for fun! As of now digicams offer a variety of options and modes (sepia, landscape etc.) to take pictures and edit them. Stampy Digital Camera gives you the option of creating a rubber-stamp version of your photograph, so that you stamp it onto any sheet of paper or surface. If you ask me, the best way to tweak this concept will be to have it stamp out pictures in multi colors instead of the single red. What do you think?

this is a nice idea, it could be fun and usefull even for work. But I am wondering why anyone would want the digital camera with it? Everone has a digital camera already. It would be cheaper without the camera system and simply laoding the pictures via the computer makes it more flexible by using any pictures or drawing from it.
Jinhee Kim says
wow. Thank you for your opinion. Yep. I think your opinion [But I am wondering why anyone would want the digital camera with it? Everone has a digital camera already] is right. So, I will consider your opinion
Anselm says
I’d agree, too! Give it a USB, Card Reader, whatever… small preview lcd and bump…. Love the idea of creating custom stamps on the fly
almokc says
Good concept,
1. Can this camera select a picture to stamp from its memory?
2. Features with Extended Memory such as SD Card?
3. Ability to connect to computer to put some text on the stamp via USB?
4. How many time can this stamp.y can change the pattern/picture on the stamp?
5. When will you get this in the market?
6. Is it going to be made affordable?
Bea says
I love the idea of having this and would buy this definitely. I’m just amazed the creator had his comment meet the fail whale…
Zumes says
Its easier with the Camera because you can do it anywhere at anytime without the use of a computer. Thats somewhat Bulkier, while this is quick and easy.
cesario says
Where can i byu this camera? It’s a very good idea and i would like to Import this to my country, i think this would be a tremenous hit.
Jeroen says
i would buy one, if it could be filled with textile paint… but i dont realy see your project happening, i just dont see how…
Jinhee Kim says
Ok, And I agree your opinon. Thank you for your attention. And this design is just a concept not product.. So I’ll prepare detail image and then I will send to you.
Michael says
Hello,
I find this to be a very cool idea. And if put into production what would it cost? Will there be a different variety of colors?
beoti says
This would be useful for small companies with varying product lines to stamp the exterior of shipping cartons. I would buy several in a heart beat for my company.

I was wondering since this is a concept do you have a patent or could someone else steal the idea
Jinhee Kim says
I don’t have a patent. Just concept. Last year I participated in RED DOT contest. But I didn’t get any prize. And lasy year I designed this item.
Jinhee Kim says
( not lasy,last is right. -..-; Sorry )
And I want to hear opions from others.
Anyway, thank you for ur opinion.

So have you designed finish yet? (Sorry, I am Taiwanese, I am not good at English. lol)
mif991 says
get a patent. This is a good concept.
Bela Nick says
I loved it! I would buy one (if it weren’t expensive).
You should try to get a patent before posting it on the web!
And someone said it should be just the stamp so that you can make a stamp from a picture you already have. Well, keep your original idea and just think on a way to load pics from the computer to the camera, than you make both sides happy and that wouldn’t be hard to do.
Congrats!
euniceH says
Is this product on the market? Where could i purchase it and for how much?
This is such a great item for arts and crafts.
I would use it for my baby scrapbooking and other such things.
coboman says
In illustration number 2, Drew Barrymore’s picture is not mirrored on the stamp.
That is to say, if the stamp really left the impression on the paper, it would be flipped horizontally.
I know it is only a concept, but that is a dead giveaway that this is not a real product.
Scott says
Whoops! My bad coboman, now I see what you mean. But still, who cares? It's just for illustrative purposes. The product is cool idea.

Lovely! but where can i buy one?!

Love the idea! But I agree with previous comments – it would be nice to have a USB or a SD card reader, no need to build the whole camera inside, or maybe it’s possible to have both the camera (if you want to stamp “on the fly”) and the reader…
I want one! What kind of paint would you use?

I like this concept. It’s like a stylish Polaroid camera. When can we expect this to be made?
ben says
i want one . it’s good idea.
Angry__Panda says
Hell yeah. I saw this a couple days ago floating around some tech blogs I read and I meant to track it to the source, finally
. This is an awesome concept, I think that the trick would be to get it made and keep it affordable. I like the idea that it would just read images from my camera’s memory card and I could use it that way as opposed to the digital camera built in.
I actually love the monotone colors as well, i.e. just straight black or red or whatever ink. It would be cool if you could easily change the ink colors with minimal trouble (i.e. if you could rinse the stamp part off and just trade out the ink pad in a matter of minutes).
Now just to finish, I am more of an amateur photographer myself and I would use this product a lot as I really like what it does. I could also see this being used as one person said to stamp stuff on packaging and what not. But yeah if it was a reasonable price and it came out in the near future I would totally buy it. Great design and I hope you can create it
.
AM says
AWESOMOE concept! I can think of a dozen projects to use this on! Especially scrapbooking, DIY, and personalization!
And I agree with Angry_Panda about trying to keep itan affordable item since it’s more of a grab and go or crafty item, you wouldn’t want to make it overly expensive unless you had templates or added functions on it. But keeping it simple with say a 3 or 5mp camera or as others have mentioned, just a slot for the SD card would probably save you cost on production and sell it a more affordable price which would in turn sell into more mass retailers rather than say specialty stores. That said, I can totally see this at Urban Outfitters!~
Also, definitely take into consideration patenting your idea so others can’t take it from you.

How can I get it now?
I’m in Shanghai.

Need to sort out the thumb nail varnish in the promo pic, looks shabby.

I love this idea. It would also be cool in a paper-cutting tool but that would probably be more difficult. The removable LCD part seems like it would be a challenge to build. Also you might want to add both impactlab and inewidea to the list of websites showing this.
jenni johnson says
I absolutely love this idea!
Would love to buy one =)
lam says
where can i find it?And how much each of this?
Paco says
Good idea. FYI the first photo just appeared in PhotoShopDisasters for mistakenly putting the stamp NOT inverted with regards to the print it does.
Try it again…
JB says
lovely idea… but your first picture model is a FAILURE!
how the hell did that happen?
Jamal says
Who cares about who, she chose to be the model in the picture. It doesn’t matter at all. And for one, once this gets into production, she’ll be making more money then what you are complaining about who the subjected model is. This blog is to judge the item, not the picture. Immature children in this world. But hey the world wouldn’t be pathetic without you critics, so keep on. keep on.
Jinhee never mind these childish acts of immaturity. The design is great! And hope great things for you in the future to come!
JB says
hey Jamal… how judgmental off you.. you must have a good life to be able to judge people like that. I’m not complaining about the model per say.
i guess you would understand that cause you seem to know everything. a failed picture should be addressed…especially with this CONCEPT idea.
can’t take it… get off the internet and live a life outside the WWW.
re evaluate yourself.
Jamal says
Funny how you reply back with non sense. You don’t know me. Or the fact that I am protecting the United States of America in the Marines. But you wouldn’t know this, because you are a fool. Judging people for what they have designed, only to show some kind of immaturity in you’re pathetic little life. “How judgemental off you” LMAO!! Don’t you mean of? A life outside the www, you say? Re evaluate myself? I would love to show you what I have done, seen, and know after 3 tours in Iraq! Its a failed picture, who cares you moron. Much like the best part of you, that obviously ran down you’re mothers leg.
JB says
the dummy below is not me.
im not bogus.
i dont have a mother..i never met her. please re evaluate your attitude. motar shells ruined your mind. god bless you.
i can say what ever i want. and i will take anything that other people say. insults are just words. action is more powerful.
have a good life jamal
Jamal says
If I am not mistaken, and this may be a flop in the first picture with drew barrymore. How about the detailed one, from 1 through 5 showing the steps. I would believe that the camera shows opposite picture then that of the one stamped. So in a sense, its been corrected. But you wouldn’t know this, because this is what you thrive on, in you’re pathetic little life. Enough for you to respond and bring the designer down. From something she created. I can imagine, the tiny life you live. Only to be a critic to someone elses design. They’re are typos everyday!! As you have proven this with you’re “off” not of!
JB says
you didnt have to go there. motar shells ruined your mind.. get help.
Jamal says
Don’t you mean mortar? Yet another typo!! LOL Doesn’t look like I am the one who needs the help.
Radhika Seth says
Hi there, while its great the you guys are interacting on this open platform of YD, It will be super if you could keep your interaction to the design and not get personal about it.
Many Thanks
Jamal says
Radhika Seth, it’d be better if you were to just delete them all. Seeings I have proven myself quite well. Including mine if you so choose.
Jamal says
Apparently no one understands the word. CONCEPT!
dummy says
LOL! Photo 2 a total photoshop disaster!
Jamal says
Aww JB whats the matter, have to post yet another bogus name, only to make yourself a better person. This is what I mean by immaturity. Here in the Marines we see little girls like yourself on a daily basis. And you know, we sit back and laugh. Because indeed by posting as detailed as the name given “dummy” only shows how true of a person you are.
Radhika Seth says
I think both of you are mature enough to have self restraint…self moderation is a good thing…..
Have a nice day!
Jamal says
Radhika Seth, you are right.
JB says
please don’t delete.
this is proof, a sample on what kind of world we live in.

You haven’t grasped the fundementals of rubber stamps that the image printed must be the reverse of that on the stamp, not the same.
Judith says
I’m a cardmaker who mostly embroiders on paper and rarely uses her rubber stamps. Still, I totally want to buy this Stampy Digital Camera. You should patent this concept and turn it into a product as soon as possible.
Darlene says
This is a product I would buy
.
You can do a lot of creative things with it. If this was on the market and the paint could be made to be non-toxic, I would buy this in a heartbeat.

tiarax says
get a patent immediately. they will steal it from you i mean BIG companies, great design congrats
Confucius says
No they wont, you cant make it with current technology. Im struggling to see how to make it at all with future technology. Each tiny ‘pixel’ needs something to push and pull the corresponding rubber part, to generate a new image., each time. Like microswitches on carbon nano tubes.
The cost of this product, if ever mass produced would be in the thousands, far out of anyones budget to have a quirky camera. Its a neat concept, but unrealistic.
JC says
I am also wondering how this would work? In your research, duid you find any methods that could possibly be in the right direction of making this happen? Im wondering if there is some sort of ‘brail’ e-book technology that we have seen concepts of that may be useful to research (the stuff that raises the surface into changeable bumps)?
Also, you may want to reconsider your lens placement. The orientation that handle begs me to touch the lens, which is never a good idea. The nice soft round shape tells my brain that it is OK to touch it, even though I know I should not be near the lens.
I also do not see any sort of connection device to the external LCD part. How would it be powered? How does the information get to the screen? I know this is a concept, but just figured i would give my input to possibly help you out.
michelle says
it looks so cool~~~~but where can i buy one????
ecabelle says
i also want to have one of this!
do u have it in Singapore?
hope its not that expensive.

Rus925 says
This should initially be marketed to large companies for sorting and shipping needs. They could be willing to pay quite a bit for such a device, and in that case, you wouldn’t need anything but the stamp, and even that could be at a very low resolution. Those initial sales would give you the funds to cheapen and improve the product.

Jeez, all this shows is how how such a product might look, if it would indeed exist. The designer has no idea about the technology to actually build one. Thus (s)he can't get a patent for it. Grow up folks…

If this where a actual product, It would have a limited market. Therefore the cost of R&D, tooling for a limited production run would mean the on shelf price would be in the thousands. Some wealthy heiress might find this product cool for about a week, then move on to the next stupid craze only rich girls could afford with daddy's silly money. How available are suitable surfaces to stamp this onto are? Are people going to have to carry around paper? Find a actual problem people have then design a product to meet the needs of this problem.
