Cut Throat Or Wrist

Rarely do we cover jewelry on YD and rarely does a design studio like Art Lebedev come up with some. Presenting here is the Punctirus Bracelet or Necklace, which according to the designers can “never go unnoticed.” I daresay I agree, not for the clever styling but for the fact that it goes well around the neck and the wrist. Anything multi-functional these days is a bonus, especially in “expensive” category! But I must add, as a choker the Punctirus gives a vamp-ish look! I love it!

Blue Blue Bidet?

Bluena cleverly combines a WC Bowl and a bidet to become a space saving package. The acrylic bidet part conceals a tap that rotates in multi-directions. The lid of the bowl opens with a click and closes with a soft ’n slow closing mechanism. The seat is made from antibacterial soft rubber and can be replaced easily. Basically it’s a no-fuss minimal styled WC that I think will look cuter in pink and soft gray combo! Maybe then I can call it Pinkena?

This Time Tea = Time

If you’ve been living the fast lane for a real long time, maybe you need to slow down, relax, and have a cup of tea. Designed to replicate the art of slow-motion-during-Tea Ceremony, TEA=TIME is an attempt by designer Erez Bar-Am to make you comfy with this wide-rimmed teacup and unique sugar bubbles. These sugar bubbles float on the tea for 10 seconds, creating little bubbles on the surface till they dissolve. Enigmatic and a real leisure proposal; something we time-bound-deadline-slaves deserve.

Have A Safe Hump

No room for naughty thoughts here, but the explanation for a design simply called the “Safe Hump.” This is no ordinary speed breaker, the system within allows it to harness the mechanical energy (of cars passing over it) into electric energy so that it can power the LEDs. Two reasons why we would want this: 1) LEDs lined speed breakers at night are easily visible from a distance 2) The design of this hump is such that your car glides over it smoothly.

This mirror right here is designed to show you the amount of water you use on the daily, on the monthly, and on the yearly. LED colored lights adorn the rims of this delightful mirror, their colors being set in place by the amount of water that runs through the sink it is attached to. And if you’re feeling like you’d like a big brother mirror function, it can control the amount of water you’re allowed to use!

Designer Phelan Miller hits us with an ever-so-slight tweak of the ever-present highlighter marker. As part of a 12-hour designer challenge where a rendering was due at the end of the period, Miller decided to fuse the highlighter and the paintbrush together. Incorporating a paintbrush-shaped handle and a chisel tipped color distributor, this right here becomes a pen I’m surprised doesn’t exist already.

Designer Kimsungi has done it! Finally, my very own lift-me-up system I can roll around myself! This is one of those things I wish for but don’t really expect to reach fruition. The video below shows it in perfect clarity- a few clicks, openings, and closings, and you’ve turned what appeared to be a giant rolling suitcase into your very own lifting work stand!

Mind you, this is not a “Green” concept and neither does it claim to be “Eco Friendly”. It’s just a helpful solution for a tricky situation. The situation being: you running out of juice on your mobile phone. So what do you do? Remove the battery from the back of the phone; give it a few good turns around your index finger and its gathered enough power to last you a conversation or a safe trip to your charger and electric point.

The Vap Steamer here brings back memories of the times when Microwaves were not available in India. I’m talking about the early 80’s, an era when the electronics boom had not hit this Asian subcontinent. We re-heated rice and other such items using the double boiler system, where steam was used to re-heat leftovers. Vap offers a safe and healthy option for not only re-heating but also for steam cooking. How about a round of Dim sums?

The light is within it, yes within its body, oh so comfy and cozy that you can hardly make out its presence. The idea is to incorporate a minitype LED within the traditional AA or AAA battery sans fuss. This is because you may just want to use a mini flashlight at the drop of a hat or because “Lighting Battery” exists. Whatever the reason, it’s a swanky concept and designer Lu Yi presents a fantastic argument to support the case. May the light be with you…..

Big Open Love Bus

This right here is a bus made for everyone who is anyone. Everyone can ride this bus, no matter how they get around, no matter what they roll on. If they roll on a wheelchair, there’s room for at least two of them. If they ride a stroller (usually this is little kiddies), they’ve got four whole spaces open to them. If they ride fine legs but bad eyes, they’ve got bright contrast throughout the bus for ease of identification. Plus, there’s handles galore.
