Decluttering The Desk

Bring order to chaos, now doesn’t that sound so familiar! Raise your hands if you belong to the clutter club, the one that crams everything in a haphazard way on the work desk, no worries I am one of you. With a promise to make our workspace more neat and tidy, we have here the Desk Rail. This simplistic organizer is crafted from anodized aluminum and holds pens and pencils, to smartphones, Moleskines, and Wacom styluses! About the size of an Apple Keyboard, I know this beauty will look good anywhere.

Concrete Heaven by the Sea

Concrete Heaven by the Sea

Have you ever seen a house so awesome that it kinda makes you hate your own?! Well, this is one of those houses. This concrete gem overlooks a rocky coastline, and its cozy interior is the perfect contrast to the stark exterior and severe sea cliffs. Beware before you look at the photos inside… it’s so good it might just make you cry.

Keeping The Waters Clean

Keeping The Waters Clean

I was watching this series on the television, which focused on a team of workers who helped clean the oceans, especially when ships go down or get damaged. I reckon these good people can do with the Bio-Cleaner 2; an innovative system that combines the technique of Robot Snake and Shewanella oneidensis (a specialized bacteria which breaks down metals) to solve the problem of the water pollution from the heavy metals.

Purely White and Wood

Purely White and Wood

This reinvention of the Gispen Today collection by Thijs Smeets combines advanced production techniques with contemporary & eloquent design- a radically different approach for a brand known for its tubular steel frames. The series of chair, sofa, stool, table, wall rack, magazine holder, & even an umbrella stand are characterized by chamfered plywood contrasted with bright white molded shells or fabric. While different than Gispen’s usual chromed out look, each piece maintains a clean, modern aesthetic.

Blood Sucking Glucose Monitor

Blood Sucking Glucose Monitor

No matter your age, having a finger pricked to measure your blood sugar levels is scary! Also, no matter your age, you gotta love a tamagotchi! This creative glucose monitoring system combines the two, making the process of pricking fingers as fun as it possibly can be. Simply place a finger inside the cute vampire character’s mouth, push slowly to activate the needle, & touch the strip. The smartphone/tablet app will sync & analyze the data while an animated vampire pops up to deliver the results!

Best Of A’ Design Awards & Competition 2013

As a strong advocate of participating in competitions, I am really humbled by the enthusiasm and results of this year’s A’ Design Awards & Competition. I believe that competitions not only act as a measure for your own caliber but also validate your potential against others on an international scale. More than that, platforms like the A’ Design Awards & Competition, offer publicity, PR push and advertisement opportunities for award winners while supporting the global design culture. So congratulations winners!

One Step for Man

One Step for Man

From an engineering perspective, the step scooter is a true innovation in human powered vehicles. Other mobile products have tried to recreate the non-cycling, up-down motion similar to a stair-climber with limited practical results. The STP scooter expands on the functionality and appeal by making it foldable and as aesthetically customizable as a skateboard deck. More efficient than a kick scooter and half the size of a bike, it’s perfect for stepping your way around the city.

On My Windowsill

On My Windowsill

… lies a lot of dust, especially in-between the rail tracks for the window. I do my best to keep the dust and debris away, however the combination of vacuuming the track and brushing out the debris doesn’t help. I also require a low maintenance herb to grow on my windowsill, and this is how I will tackle both these aspects.

Scoop 'n Weigh

Scoop ‘n Weigh

Scoop is an electronic scale integrated into the measuring scoop, intended for the local grocers who sell by the measure. It is not only handy in eliminating a step, but also promises accuracy. I can picture this being used in kitchens as well, especially when we need to bake and measure out the ingredients as accurately as possible. Over all, a nice plausible design!

Only geeky by name...

Only geeky by name…

Featuring a commanding contrast of raw wood and steel, the Geek chair has a fresh and contemporary appearance that’s elegant yet unpretentious. The design itself is straightforward and familiar, using simple geometric lines for subtlety. For more individual style, there’s a choice of matte black or white finish coupled with the solid maple rods.
