The highly anticipated, not to mention comprehensive, Salone del Mobile is one of the world’s most revered furniture and design shows. With over 2,500 exhibitors from nearly 40 different countries, it goes without saying there’s quite a bit to see. We are literally days away now, it will run from 16 to 21 April, and to save you scouring more than 200,000 square metres of exhibition space, we’ve put together a preview of the designers, products and projects we’re most excited about.

With more than 1,300 exhibitors from around 60 countries, imm cologne opened the doors of the global furnishings and design market and gave the 2008 furniture year a strong start. Earlier this month in the heart of London, the works of people like the Campana Brothers, Ron Arad, Tord Boontje, Zaha Hadid (pictured) and Ross Lovegrove were shown as part of Covent Garden Super Design. The UK’s first exhibition showcasing the cross over between art and design, curated by Kenny Schachter, The Apartment and Greenwich Village Gallery.

Tokyo Design Week, the largest and most influential design event in Japan started as of yesterday. Events Tokyo Designer’s week, 100% Design Tokyo & Design Tide will be all running until November 4. On show in Eindhoven until Sunday 28 October is the latest in Dutch design. During Dutch Design Week virtually all design disciplines - ranging from product design, graphic design, and spatial design to brand design, textile design, and fashion design - are represented in more than 40 large and smaller venues across the city.

If ever there were a scenario whereby we were only allowed to live with the portfolio of one designer in our home, Jacob Jensen would be our choice, hands down. And strolling through the halls of the Skive New Museum of Art in Denmark one gets an impression of what it might be like as the museum is playing host to a retrospective of two generations of Jacob Jensen Design.
