Houndstooth Wall Shelving

Houndstooth Wall Shelving

You a houndstooth lover? You might like the Pied-de-Poule. A modular wall shelving unit that puts your favorite woven pattern up on display. It’s just a concept for the FLY design competition but careful thought was put into how it could be ecological manufactured and sold a low price. The units come in two colors made of laminated composite wood. Each piece is hung using only two screws and I suspect this would be a great way to bring interest to a sparse wall.

Minimal and Modular Moulding

Minimal and Modular Moulding

This modern ceiling rose and moulding design by Geoffrey Lhoest is a twist on the classics that plays with the concepts of interconnection and modularity. When combined, the ceiling rose and modular moulding gives new life to walls and ceilings by bridging all 3 dimensions of the space.  A minimalist design that gives a sense of fluidity and movement that will accent both classic and contemporary spaces.

Stop That Door!

Stop That Door!

Hand Door Stopper is a clever way to pull down the doorstopper without having to bend over or using your foot. The stopping mechanism is integrated into the handle itself and is very convenient. Moreover the angle of the door handle will always make you aware that the stopper has been activated. So no accidental door-pushing! Simple and functional, just the way we like it.

Compact, Minimalist Desk

Compact, Minimalist Desk

DEX is a compact, minimalist desk that fits anywhere in the home. The frame consists of two horizontal cross shapes of solid wooden laths and a drawer unit. The frame has a minimal presence around the seat for optimal comfort. The drawer unit has two or three drawers. They can be pulled out entirely to provide a place for a printer. I’m liking the design but something about it feels very juvenile, don’t you think?

New Store Promotes Post Graduate Design

New Store Promotes Post Graduate Design

Itchin’ for something new and different instead of the mass produced stuff on the market? Check out ContemporaryLab, an online store dedicated to promoting the very best post-graduate design. All of the products are unique and most are sustainably produced. The online concept was set up by Emma Brocklesby; an undergraduate, who worried about how she and other undergraduates, could work in design if employment opportunities remained scarce. With this in mind, she took the decision to start up her own business. Smart Girl!

Wrench Open The Door

Wrench Open The Door

What do you do when your door handle gives way? Grab a wrench and try and open the door using it? Bingo! The same idea is being applied to the Wrench Handle; the only difference is that it’s a gilded, up-scaled version rather than a makeshift quick-fix.

Enlightened Door

Enlightened Door

The very stylish ORB Door Handle can be used in diverse scenarios thanks to the integrated LED light ring. For a bathroom door handle, a lit-up ring can indicate the room is busy. For a hotel room door it can signify DND and for the children’s room it can be the nightlight!

Sensual Interior Design: The Shade Club

SquareONE’s latest renovation, located in the basement of a residential building in the center of Bucharest, was once home to some of  the most successful and downright sexy clubs of the 90s, some of which carried a notorious and even dark past. After 5 years of vacancy the Shade Club has opened its doors to reveal a sultry modern design that reflects the scandalous history of the venue.

Crafty Ceilings

Crafty Ceilings

Gotta love the craftsmanship of this woodwork! Los Tres Juanes’ dedication to the perfection of their signature woodwork shines in their Mudejar art inspired coffered ceilings. The dominant characteristics of the art emerge conspicuously in the ornamental panels which form a series of geometrical shapes made of finely intertwined wood. The intricate pieces are unsurpassed in sophistication but the design team has maximized time efficiency while maintaining attention to detail by streamlining their custom production process.

I'd Kill for this Office

I’d Kill for this Office

Industrial/product design consultants No Picnic have outdone themselves with their new office/studio in downtown Stockholm. Enjoying the highest level of historical protection, the 19th century buildings required that architect Elding Oscarson be super meticulous about conservation, even down to each new screw hole. The result is a 21st century office with bright and creative interior design that also displays the structural materials of the building while owning its unique imperfections.

Reflective Yacht Interior

Reflective Yacht Interior

Combining fluid contours and reflective, polished surfaces, this concept yacht interior by designer Adelina Popescu reflects the natural beauty in the shapes and textures of the ocean environment. Aquatic blue reflects in glossy finishes adding to the oceanic theme, while creative use of embedded linear LED lighting highlights the overall space while providing relief from the wavy interior.
