Sharp Twist that Ive will Love
A pencil sharpener cannot get more basic than this! Twist is a stainless steel sheet, bent with one sharp side, mimicking a pencil shaving. Simple, functional and fantastic! In short, Steve Jobs approved!
Twist is an iF concept design entry.

would you be able to get enough grip to turn the sharpener? There isn’t much surface area! I like the idea a lot
Eddd says
The area where you do have grip is also the area where the scraped pieces of pencil exit the part.
could use a bit more thought.

This pencil sharpener is really simple, functional and fantastic! I like it!

It looks very cool, but not practical. As espkav said, can’t get grip to turn it. Also, you can’t replace or sharpen the ‘cutter’.
The sharp edge is also ‘touchable’, so it isn’t very safe for small fingers…
espkav says
functional? as Eddd pointed out, the scrap pieces of wood eject into the users hand, could cause the users to get a splinter, but yes its a great way of thinking

i really love this design, but agree it looks hard to grip, even some of the little plastic ones are hard to use…here’s the other end of the scale:)

really, nice design. but its look like dangerous to your fingers?
jimmy c says
@espkav: No. Pencil shavings have never given someone a splinter. you have obviously never sharpened a pencil before.
espkav says
well i disagree, am sure the pencil led or even the shaved wood can break down into small long pieces which could easily stick into your hand.

I have gotten quite a sizable splinter from a pencil before, but I wouldn’t consider it an issue here. The fact that it has the corner of a sharpened piece of metal right in the holding area would concern me.
I can also remember struggling to get a decent grip on a full sized sharpener. Good luck keeping a hold of this one.

Looks very hard to grip. Where do the shavings go? Not crazy about this design. Just because it’s simple, that doesn’t mean it’s the best.

Rip off version of ATE ~
Maryline says
I like the design. I don’t think the size is an issue but the blade might be too exposed and too dangerous. I don’t think it’s a ripped off version but I like who ate my pencil better.
