The World’s Brightest Swizzle Stick
While not explicitly intended as a swizzle stick, the Mahoo light from Stefano Pistilli uses the conduction of water to complete the circuit and power the light inside. Utilizing an interesting environmental trigger, these could also be great night time pool toys or even help see and identify other scuba divers on a night dive. Nevertheless, I’m drinking alone tonight and I’m hoping scotch and soda has enough electrolytes to power this friendly light on.

Hate this idea! This sort of thing already exists and is in use at Radio City Music Hall in NY. They were a huge distraction because they cast too much light and actually made it harder to see the performer.

No Brian no…ops sorry..

@ Brian-
“…not explicitly intended as a swizzle stick…”
Is there any way that the brightness/color could be reflective of minerals/chemicals in the liquid?
ie- white = safe to drink
red= not so much….
Stefano Pistilli says
no..the neon tubes are only white or red or blu but it depends on what color you choose to use..
take care

still, a fun idea.

why would you want to pass electric current in a pool?
Stefano Pistilli says
i’m sorry but the water doesn’t complete the circuit because there isn’t electric current inside the vase…
these neon tubes are turned on without electrical connection but by plasma radiations (not harmful) created by a generator near the outlet. These radiations are brought to the vase with a thin cable which ends up in the water..
so if you dip all tube into this water it doesn’t turn on…
anyway you have had a good idea..
take care

this is about an ipotetic handpocket version
it’s very difficult to explain i hope i’ve done it well:)

It would be a great idea if you post a description of the correct procedure for making thise neon light to turn on an a glass of eater and, by dooing so, not letting any idiot person to play with it in a pool or in the ocean. jajaja.
But realy, it would be cool to see how to make thise experiment.
Stefano Pistilli says
it is not an experiment..it is a product..so..i’m sorry but i can’t say to you anymore..you can read about it on description and on posts i have written here
kind regards

I don’t understand why the stick held by the hand is lit up as it is totally outside of the water. Was the thing not supposed to use water to be connected? If you can do it with water, what’s the purpose of it then? or it is just a nice render?
Stefano Pistilli says
It’s not a render but a picture. This is a prototype made for an exhibition.
the waters needs to conduct radiations not for connect neon!
