The BMW Welt by Coop Himmelb(L)Au will officially open to the public on the weekend of October 20/21, 2007. Visitors from all over the world are invited to experience the exciting new building. As planned the handing over will be on June, 30 2007.

The concept SLIQ Phone by Samsung introduces advanced touch interface which eliminates the conventional keypad making the overall usage experience a highly tactile one. An extra wide LCD screen maximizes visual impact, allowing the user to benefit from several key features of the phone, including the 2 megapixel camera featuring Schneider-Kreuznach lens, video player and document viewer capacity.

The Spa Intercontinental on Park Lane London has undergone something of a facelift of late. Not only has Theo Randall’s restaurant on the ground floor enjoyed six proud months of packed tables and critical praise since it opened at the end of last year, but now a spa to rival the best in the world has joined it as part of a 76 million refurbishment.

During the Salone del Mobile that tooked place in Milan, the Sony Design Center showcased Sony Design x Master Craft Lombardia project, a truly intriguing exhibition at the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti. Visitors had the chance to experience the creative intelligence of the Global Consumer Electronics and Entertainment Company coupled with the manual skill and artistic flair of master Lombard artisans.
Every other weekend I work in a fabric store selling fabrics and curtains. I don’t like curtains, I never have. I’m very fond of working with things I don’t like. Curtis, which I’m presenting for the first time at Designers Block in Milan 2007, is an outcome of me embracing things I don’t fancy. Curtis is a table and a lamp draped with fabric just like curtains.

Apple today updated its MacBook consumer notebooks with faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 1GB of memory and larger hard drives in every model. The MacBook is just one-inch thin and features built-in 802.11n wireless networking for up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g.

Designed in minimal style, the bench making a Far Eastern impression calls to mind the silhouette of traditional Japanese gates (torii). When designing, I took inspiration from dry gardens of Shunmyo Masuno. In bustling cities, these little gardens, sanctuaries, roof terraces, and spas offer a heaven of peace, and a place for spiritual purification.

The Crystal Dumbbell is an attempt to rejuvenate the way we look at fitness products and there place in our homes. Fitness is a multi billion dollar industry where more money is being spent on home fitness products than on video games every year. We pay a lot of money for these products, but there aesthetics seldom fit our overall interior style at home and we tend to stow them away.

Fix It On The Wall corresponds to a contemporary way of life in need of space. Hung on your wall, it’s a decorative picture that you can customize with colors, textures and prints, and once displayed on the ground, it becomes a tiny tea time environment thanks to its coffee table and its 4 cushions.

A quiet inversion of the traditional chest of drawers, Introvert’s supporting structure is concealed within, creating the perception of drawers that float unsupported. The collaboration between Kartell and the Bouroullec brothers continues. Pol is a sofa with a light chrome steel structure and a backrest and seat in expanded polyurethane, each consisting in a single padded element. Two simple armless elements, one practically fitted onto the other; an austere design which is softened exclusively by the hint of a curve at the ends.

In a society where each person strives to create his/her own fashion identity, mass produced fashion items fail to deliver consumer’s needs to be unique. In a competitive and saturated eyewear market, sheer volume of similar products forces even the most “unique” item to be common.
