Dirty Linen Goes Straight To The Closet!

Dirty Linen Goes Straight To The Closet!

The notion of dumping laundry in a basket and then taking it out on laundry-day will probably be redundant in the future. All you will need to do is hang your clothes in a specialized closet and await molecular technology to do its thing. The Clean Closet is your laundry basket, washing machine and drying cabinet – all rolled into one. Using its tech, it scans clothes for stains etc and removes it, freshens it (de-odorizes), and that too without using water.

Hangers in a Basket

Hangers in a Basket

If you’re really short on closet space, maybe this will help. Hangers in a Basket is just what the name implies. The hangers work like any other but when clothes get dirty, pop them onto the handle. The form a nifty little cage around dirty clothes. What happens when you’re halfway thru your clothes? No idea but it looks like it could triple as a line dryer too. Hmm…

Dynamic Kitchen: From Cozy To Comprehensive

Dynamic Kitchen: From Cozy To Comprehensive

Smart kitchens are ones that fool you into thinking that you have an elaborate setup, when in reality it’s just a very cozy space that becomes elaborate when necessary. Nolte Küchen Dynamic Living Kitchen is a good example of this style. It’s smart and elegant to look at, and fits in all the modern amenities that a couple will require. It goes from a comfy breakfast nook to a sophisticated entertainment hob whilst partying with friends, by simply rearranging the movable tables. Really Smart!

Dish Paws

Dish Paws

Do you have dish paws? Paws that do dishes or any sorts of cleaning in a jiffy. So efficient that you want to have them on all the time, especially if you are a cleanliness freak! Basically we’re looking at mittens with polypropylene woven in a rope form, covering the outer skin. And it’s the whole glove that is being used as a cleaning brush or “Brüsh” as Liang calls it. Special attention has been giving to the pressure points like the tips and the base of the palm (color coded grey). These areas are covered with a harder version of polypropylene to add power to the scrubbing.

Kitchen Worthy of a Starship Captain

Kitchen Worthy of a Starship Captain

It’s easy to spend a fortune on a kitchen – especially if you want to show off your spending power by splashing out on prestigious, German or Italian brands with their awe-inspiring price tags. A young Hamburg-based family thinks differently – and commissioned KINZO, three young Berlin-based Designers, to create a bespoke kitchen that you won’t see anywhere else.

Illusion For Hot Chocolate?

Illusion For Hot Chocolate?

We have been exploring the various ways to get the perfect coffee fix while completely ignoring our other addiction, CHOCOLATE! My apologies. It wasn’t till Ahmad Bittar brought to my notice the Maya Machine. Now Maya means illusion, so let’s get swept up in this fantasy express. Maya is completely dedicated to the chocolate cause, it’s similar to the espresso machine, but doesn’t use crass powders to bring out the choco-licious flavors. It uses special pods of real chocolate that melts & blends into steamed fresh milk. Giving you the perfect velvet-chocolate experience.

Melting Away Lights

Melting Away Lights

I’ve had a bitter experience with a 200-watt bulb and here’s my story: when I dunked my phone accidentally into a mug of water, like a bright person I decided to evaporate the excess moisture by placing the phone under my table lamp. The 200-watt heat melted & disfigured the plastic interface and now I’ve cursed the bulb….and melted it! True story, but the Melt Bulb here is actually a reflection on how eco-conscious we are getting by replacing bulbs with LEDs. Just a gentle reminder by Keita, about precious electricity and how melted bulbs can make chic decor!

The Top 25 Entries of Electrolux Design Lab 2010

The Top 25 Entries of Electrolux Design Lab 2010

It’s not always easy to predict the future. For its 2010 competition, Electrolux Design Lab went with the theme: The 2nd Space Age; this essentially translating to designing a home environment for the year 2050, when 74% of the global population are predicted to live in urban areas. Student designers had to predict how people will prepare and store food, wash clothes, and do dishes. Quite a task but plenty of surprises from across the globe! Here are the Finalist 25, the countdown has begun!

Neon Tapelights Are The New Glo Friends

Neon Tapelights Are The New Glo Friends

Looking at these Neon Tape lights brings back a flood of memories from childhood. That’s right I’m talking about the Glo Friends! Although the cheap Chinese version of stars and planets stuck to the ceiling comes in a close second, Glo Friends were the best for night-time monsters. Saving Energy And Safety Line takes the idea of this night-glow-lights a step further, by coming in the form of a sticky tape that can be easily put around counter-edges and furniture. Thus avoiding the hassle of turning on the lights for a trip to the fridge at night.

Clampy Washy Device

Clampy Washy Device

Here is something you wont understand – how I could just wash a hand… sized spot. All’s I really need is that one spot cleaned on my shirt, right? I mean, the rest is clean, why not just get that big blob of goo out of there and continue on my way for the day? And I tell you what, while we’re at it, let’s make this adventure in tiny cleaning green as possible, using minimal water and the power of the sun! How about it?

Rolling Bundle To Park Your Tushy

Rolling Bundle To Park Your Tushy

Although intended for small apartments that demand functional furniture, I don’t see why we can’t include the Zip-Up Chair in mansions. I love the simple methodology used in wrapping up a bundle of oversized upholstered swabs; and encasing them in a zipper sleeve. Zip open, turn down a few swabs and park your posterior onto an impromptu stool. Kitsch and comfy!

Pressing Out The Bacteria And Grime

Pressing Out The Bacteria And Grime

Lupe is this innovative iron which can cut down the 3 steps of doing laundry into 1. The 3 steps being: washing, drying and ironing. Swipe it over that blob of dirt on your favorite Tee, and watch it dry-clean, sanitize and iron it at, all at once. Am I being to futuristic about this? No ways! I think if appliances like this are made available, then Carrie Bradshaw and her single friends will have no issues with doing the dirty laundry!

The Online Coat Rack

The Online Coat Rack

Love me a good coat rack but this is no ordinary Coat Rack. This one connects to the internet and makes suggestions on what jacket to wear by displaying it thru a very cool looking analog barometer. It’s playful and functional. We need more products like this.
