Humans have been harnessing radiant hear from the sun since times immemorial. A host of ever-changing and evolutionary technologies have helped us stake claim on solar power, which is free and abundant. Active solar techniques like the use of photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors and Passive solar techniques like constructing buildings oriented towards the sun are the two methods that most designers consider whilst integrating solar energy into their design.

With BaselWorld just round the bend, we are seeing a lot of innovative watches making an appearance. The ones that really get me ticking are the ones with movements that are special. For example the three new editions to the Project 2 Watches by Refined Hardware: McQueen, Gatsby and Rearden Editions. All three of them host a Flying Tourbillon and come in three distinctive versions.

As a strong advocate of participating in competitions, I am really humbled by the enthusiasm and results of this year’s A’ Design Awards & Competition. I believe that competitions not only act as a measure for your own caliber but also validate your potential against others on an international scale. More than that, platforms like the A’ Design Awards & Competition, offer publicity, PR push and advertisement opportunities for award winners while supporting the global design culture. April is a month of frenzy in the world of watches, mainly because of Baselworld, the Mecca for watch-enthusiasts. Living up to the expectations, is San Francisco-based luxury watch startup Xetum Automatic Watches with their latest offering, the Xetum Kendrick. While I appreciate well-designed watches very much, I am more passionate about the ones that tell a story. The good news is that Xetum Kendrick is both well designed and has a good story to tell.
You will have to agree with me that AC Gears brings in new innovative products to the US, not just in electronics but also in lifestyle goods. Their connection to the Unit Portables brand is deep and I love them for their commitment to enriching our daily experiences with bags.
