Ending The Urinal Debate

Let’s just end the debate on the urinal and sink combo right now! I think this time the men folk will be happy about the angle, length and the gradient of the Tandem Urinal – Sink. No back-splash, easy hand washing and bowl cleaning is what we look forward to. Say yo! to water well used.

I would never, and have never seen anyone utilize the bowl in a public sink. This whole concept is a little off because of that. Also, at over 2m tall, I would have trouble not peeing in that sink.

    • RadhikaYD says:

Hi Meks, you don't need to pee in the sink, just the urinal below the sink, the water from the sink will rinse out the toilet bowl while you wash your hands, thus conserving water!

its an interesting concept, however its extremely risky… if this was in ur home ud take care and use it as intended, however in a public environment people arent going to take the same care, just as how u dont eat where u shit, you shouldnt wash where u pee!

  • Leander says:

    uahh.. never trust men peeing.

    • I agree wholeheartedly. Many many men will take one look at this and piss in the basin for a giggle. The only possible upside is that they'll likely be more careful about their aim and there'll be less urine on the floor.

Either way, my hands are going nowhere near that.

  • billy says:

Why not use urinals that don't need any water which they already have… or use urinals that use captured rain water which they also already have. The proximity of the sink to the urinal seems way too close for sanitary conditions.

  • Feniks says:

How to dry your hands and where to dispose of paper towel? I am sure that in some locations have much to be done by removing the towels out from the urinals.

  • martin says:

    Nice, I like it.

  • Aleco says:

Interesting concept but this will double the time that people are on the urinal, slowing down the rate of people being able to use it over a period of time. Not very effective in public bathrooms where people may be waiting to use them.

  • nickchan says:

HI, really good concept of water saving! keep good working!

  • Hum… The concept idea is great, just one problem, its not original, this is a concept that the designer Yeongwoo Kim won a prize in the “iF Concept Design competition”, the only difference is the type of urinol, appart from that, not original at all.

Congrats on the work and presentation, but nothing new, sorry.

useful thing, but something is missing, liquid soap for example of course if hygiene is important for you!

  • PeaceMarauder says:

Next thing ya know they'll invent a urinal cake that doubles as soap…

  • Kris says:

But why the need to “conserve” the water? What happens when it goes down that pipe? Is it lost to an alternate dimension for the rest of forever? There's no such thing as “conserving” water. It doesn't simply leave the earth after we've “used” it. I'm going to take a gallon of water out of my sink and pour it down my driveway to be lost forever for every comment on this page. Prepare to loose 10-20 gallons of water forever!

Um, simple concept, and nice curves, but still doesn’t seem thought out at all. I think a lot of people would have concerns about preserving modesty. This shape would force men to stand quite a distance back from the urinal while using it, leaving some things… shall we say, “exposed.” If the sides extended out further than the sink or the bottom, this issue would be resolved.

    이 컨셉은 계속나오네요.
몇년전에 대한민국산업디자인전에서도 다수 작품이 수상된 컨셉인데..
    상용화된다면 좋겠네요^^

lmao, nice concept but not practical enough.

Kaspars Jursons made this concept already in 2009 and exhibited the first prototipe of urinal-sink in Stockholm Furniture Fair in the begining of 2010.

  • This is too cool. Even if you use the wrong vessel it still works.

  • Art says:

This seems totally unneccesary. In addition to having people pee in the sink, which will happen to 100% of them at one time or another, I've always found water to be cheap and abundant anyway.

  • jay says:

hmm pee can be splash in sink..
    desing is ok
    but little bit dirty

  • I find this design clean, simple and rather brilliant.

  • Jack Liu says:

    good idea

  • Murat Susanlı says:

Good idea but may not yield good results in public places where a significant amount of people is expected! Think of a stadium, or a shopping mall, or a cozy night club! You should direct people to another area (where the sinks are located) in order to eliminate the bottleneck that will be created for the addendum stuff of handwashing!

    And yes, I'm a consultant. :)

  • Jade says:

    Wheres the soap dispenser?!

  • FH says:

Good idea but I wouldn’t wash my face, mouth, and set my hair on that sink.
