Mobile Projector Phone, Do We Need One?
Here’s another mobile projector phone concept but this one is a bit more thought out, tho not without its problems. It offers portability and the communications functions of a mobile phone with a projector to support a new lifestyle.
As you’ve probably guessed, anything on screen can be projected onto a wall. There’s support for real time conferencing tho the camera faces the ceiling when in projector mode so I guess you’ll look like some floating head from the viewer’s perspective.
Perhaps the only reasonable utility is the ability to watch stored movies on a large screen, possibly HD since storage capacities have ramped up exponentially. Users can enjoy an array of multimedia this way, everything from videos, maybe video games, and TV.
Now to the obvious problems. Projectors produce a lot of light to get sharp saturated images. Surely a phone’s battery would run dry within minutes if tasked with such a job. Not so according to the designer. The projection system is part of a newer generation of miniaturized video components. That combined with advancements in battery technologies provide for an acceptable viewing experience.
Made of polycarbonate that is highly durable, insulating and energy saving with a graphite sheet to increase heat conductivity to dissipate heat. The edge is made of aluminum to enhance heat radiation away from the projector module and function keys. In another words, this thing would get hot!

Not exactly a new concept. Microvision has been working on a laser scanning version, for decades.

Since these will mostly be used for close range close viewing situations the light source really can be minimal (especially with a high output led). Shouldn’t a working model actually hit consumers before you start moaning about HD capabilities. Do you really need 1080 when the projected screen is about the size of a sheet of paper. 640×480 will be just fine for now. Everyone seems to be caught up in the novelty of carrying around a portable movie projector but really that will wear off within the first month of those people having one. The best use for a projecting cell phone is as a portable powerpoint player and image viewer. I have had countless times when I’ve been at lunch with a client or I’ve been at lunch as a client wanting to immediately show them a concept drawing or model and couldn’t because I hate lugging my laptop with me. With this I could call a coworker and have them email the file or picture to my phone and I could present it at the table, impromptu. Yes, I know this is possible with an Iphone or any number of smart phones but I personally don’t like having four people hunched over my shoulders trying to look at the screen. With this you could stand up a napkin or menu and project onto it allowing everybody at the table to view it comfortably and give their input freely. I refuse to buy an Iphone (deep-seated, long-running hatred for apple) but I would buy this on drop day.

Such a crude look….. If it didnt says that it function for projector, i would tought that a 2 in 1 mobile phone with torch light….
Other then that, nothing much to say. This is a pretty darn simple not new idea….

id rather have a torch on my mobile than a projector.

I like my mobile phone stays thin, but this projector concept phone, makes it bulky. Although i must agree with jin woo han, who once commented that every mobile phone these days should be equipped with projector. Why there is no manufacturer yet that produce this ?
carl says
why do i need a projector on my mobile?

wouldnt it make sense to also put a camera on the opposite side of the projector lens, which would be on the bottom of the phone so that u can view the projector and chat through the camera at the same time? just a thought i think that would be a good idea so that if u choose not to use the projector u could speak through the front camera or if u chose to use it u can set it down somewhere and u can video chat while viewing the video of the other person at the same time (im just a kid so no harsh comments please lol)

oh sry for double posting but if what i put earlier was possible and the phone was manufactured, i’d totally buy it though it is bulky

In the UK we have people referred to as ‘chavs’ usually young people…. i can see them enjoying this phone and projecting pictured of genitalia or crude words on to people…. and i thought playing music on the bus for all to hear was annoying *sigh*

It is really a dream-mobilephone.
I want to know how to get it? Can I buy it in VietNam,or another country in South-East Asian?
Thanks.
