Reuse your Legos! Salt n’ Pepper Shaker
Interesting use of legos – a salt/pepper shaker designed by Joel Hesselgren. The white column holds the salt while the black column holds the pepper. How much you want of each can be controlled by moving the red block around. Great use of a childhood toy. See mom! Legos are so not a waste of time!

why is everyone asking when it comes out? I don’t see why you couldn’t make one yourself. all you need is Lego and a drill……
Evath says
You seem to be the only one here who thinks!!
Only problem is every lego has a top surface… which means
you would have to dispense with all the lego tops to fill the item
with salt/pepper… otherwise, the amount of each you could put in
non-modified legos, would be too small to be worth the space they’d
take up at the dinner table.

Not all that true, I went and made one of these myself and just drilled the middle of the brick out including the tops. So it’s two hollow columns except for the top and bottom pieces. You just need a couple different drill bit sizes, and about an hour or two. Not that hard to make.

Very good design, BUT… I don’t understand the way you can “empty” the bloks to put the stuff.
Nuna says
You take off the bottom block of Lego and voila it is open and ready to fill.
Just guessing about that — I don’t have these but will try building them.

i am in year 11 and I’m doing a project in one of my classes (vis com) and i was wondering about a few things.
a) did you make the top part or did you have them in a set already
b) how do you seperate the salt from pepper in the middle did you drill two if the side holes in the 4 block?
my email address is turtlemurt@hotmail.com could you please email me with some info like how you thought of it and stuff, it would be greatly apreciated
