yh2 Architecture designs the Counter-Slope House as a quiet intervention within the steep terrain of Lake Memphremagog in Potton, Quebec. The 4,530-square-foot residence is embedded in a sharply sloping woodland site, where dense trees and shifting gradients shape every architectural decision. Instead of asserting presence toward the lake, the house withdraws into the land, reading more like a calibrated extension of the hillside.



The building is composed of two interlocking volumes that step gently with the slope, each capped by a subtly shifting dual-pitched roof that reduces visual mass and echoes the surrounding topography.
