The Power of Touch

Touch technology is more or less the best way to use a device, simply because it’s the most natural and intuitive human behavior. Banking on this theory, the designers of Ecopad have come up with a concept Tablet PC that uses no external power source to charge it. Right below the display is the nano piezoelectricity film that harnesses every touch or press on the screen, as an energy source.

Anything I say would be negative (even if backhandedly so). As such, I'll keep my comments about magic and perpetual motion to myself.

    Cheers,

Wonderful idea, and very green! I am wondering how exactly it works, though I know it is not magic or impossibru (clears throat meaningfully)

Piezoelectric effect doesn't mean free lunch.

I'm beginning to hate concept designs. First because of those among them that have a giant fatal flaw and therefore waste my time. Second because they're presented as the real thing and no-one likes subterfuge or being manipulated. Can't Yanko put a great big vitual note on the 'concept' expse's ?

Maybe it's a bit "pie-in-the-sky", but it would be very interesting to see how this technology could be incorporated into traditional electronics not to do away with charging altogether, but to supplement battery life and reduce the frequency of charging.

it's not a pie in the sky. it's been patented by samsung few years ago. even the picture that they used in the third page is similar from the new what I saw. I don't understand how come they are proud themselves. copied

Where can I buy it and how much is it? *-*

Has piezoelectric technology advanced so far? Would this be viable with even a low energy eink display?

  • vinuiyer says:

    LOL!
…so many dumb people on yanko …they look at the renders of concepts like these, and ask ‘where can i buy it from?’! 😛
