Retro Analogue Photography In Digital Era

Retro Analogue Photography In Digital Era

When they were asked to rethink the camera by BBC Future, the designers at Conran and Partners were clear that they wanted to set about reimagining every aspect, from the form factor to the technology inside. The result is this new-age hybrid that has a gaping hole replacing the camera lens and no digital viewfinder to check out the images clicked. In a very spunky way, the concept transports us back to that era when rushing to the darkroom with the camera roll used to be so much of fun.

DJ Wiz

DJ Wiz

The Grand Wizard smartphone goes beyond the MP3 playing functionality of other phones, turning the user into a real life mixmaster DJ with turntables and everything! Sure, there’s an app for that… but this is way more fun! The portable mixing station makes it possible to manipulate and produce media using intuitive right and left controls, each dedicated to a track. Make your own remixes while you’re on the go or at any time you’re inspired!

Nom Nom… phone tasty!

Younggun Cho’s eco-friendly set of birch smartphone stands are hungry for your phone! Each playful stand makes for a fun desktop accessory that props up your device but also functions as an amplifier for your phone’s speaker thanks to its internal acoustics.

A backbone for your wrist...

A backbone for your wrist…

Kakum is a minimal, ergonomic accessory for your workspace that eliminates the need for those cumbersome (and often ugly) wrist-supporting mouse pads. Unlike most stationary wrist supports, the lightweight design easily slides with your arm as you move across the desk. Adapted for the most natural and comfortable position of the user’s wrist while using a mouse, the design improves form and prevents hand and wrist strain over long term use. See it in action after the jump.

Kitsch Dress Your Camera

Kitsch Dress Your Camera

The Spectrum Camera Concept is high on the novelty quotient and very low on functionality. However if we keep our minds open, I see us using the idea of a customizable wrap-around flexible display in more innovative ways. Just the other day we heard of an Apple patent that employed a similar idea, where the display went wrap-around the phone. This can turn into something big, what do you think?

Tear And Share USB

Tear And Share USB

I love the fun and interactive element given to the GIGS.2.GO, which is a credit-card-sized pack of USB flash drives, with “Tear – and – Share” technology. You just need to tear off a tab and take the handy USB Drive on the go with you! Crafted essentially from 100% post-consumer molded paper pulp, this economical, credit-card-sized data pack is fantastic!

Sustainable Cleaning Bot

Sustainable Cleaning Bot

Move over Roomba! Limbo Robot is sort of like your own personal Mars-rover… only instead of being plutonium powered, it actually harnesses the energy of the waste it “consumes” from cleaning your kitchen and other areas! It uses a process called microbial electrolysis; a proven process that uses bacteria as a power source. The flexible honeycomb wheels allow it to move over obstacles and even collapse to help guide it up stairs.

OMG, Yes Another iPhone 6 Concept Phone!

OMG, Yes Another iPhone 6 Concept Phone!

By now Jony Ive and his brigade must be having a good laugh at the number of iPhone 6 concepts doing the rounds. But I must admit that with each passing new idea, the designing and aspects are getting refined and eloquent. Who knows one of these may trigger an inspiration for Ive! Specs for this new idea include straight sides with chrome accents, upper and lower angles curved with grainy texture and gloss finish.

Puzzled About Your Keyboard?

Puzzled About Your Keyboard?

Here is a question for you; do you really need all the keys on this keyboard? This is especially true when we use software that incorporates special function keys that are far from the most commonly used ones. Hence thoughts like why can’t I shift my F1 key closer to my space key or, why can’t I arrange my keyboard to suit how I use it are very legit. The answer to these questions is the Puzzle Keyboard.

Docking And The Movies

Docking And The Movies

Moving Moving is a unique concept that marries a docking station with a mini portable projector. The idea is to play songs as well as movies and videos on the go. I love the simple and interesting way the design has been combined. The docking station looks classy and with added functionality, it is revolutionary.

Yet Another iPhone 6

Yet Another iPhone 6

One of the reasons why many people buy a fender for their iPhone is that the back surface tends to scratch pretty easily, especially in the iPhone 5. Designer Matt Hughson envisions the iPhone 6 to come designed with an integrated aluminum outer frame, which creates a protective lip for the front & back of the phone. This provides improved protection for your screen & camera.

Hands-On Audio

Hands-On Audio

With tons of features & straightforward functionality, Spotify is a great way to get the perfect tune for whatever mood you’re in at the moment. The Pick Up and Play concept explores adding a tangible element to the service, using a compact speaker and touch-screen cubes to harness all the Spotify functions. Shake em to mix things up, line em up to create a playlist, or even gift one to a friend as a customized mix-tape! Not the most portable option, but it’s a fun, interactive player that’s perfect on your desk or coffee table.
