This Way Out

This Way Out

The ‘Way Out Light’ is a fire alarm and sprinkler system that activates the lighting for the emergency exit route in the event of a fire evacuation. The purpose of the system is to contain the spread of fire, illuminate the pathway to the nearest exit and keep people away from danger. Since it’s all tightly integrated, it looks to be a foolproof system.

IV Made Easy

IV Made Easy

However useful, IV units can and do become dangerous when neglected. In serious cases, the back-flow of blood from gravity can cause tremendous pain, phlebitis and bruising. With a little help from tablet tech, the E-Drip Stand aims to heighten awareness of each individual IV. The stand itself detects the weight of the bag and relays real-time status to the caretaker’s smart device, also alerting when it’s time to change bags. Rooms and patients are easily identified via a graphic map on the screen, making the nurse rounds more efficient and effective.

A Stand for All Your Tablet Needs

A Stand for All Your Tablet Needs

Remember way back when, I wrote about these minimalistic iPhone stands with space age “gecko feet” instead of using traditional adhesives or magnets? Well the genius behind the SETA Smartphone Stand is back at it again with the SETA Tablet stand. Same idea, similar design, and of course – awesome “gecko feet” which is technically called NanoSuction. Those that already have the smartphone stand can get a matching tablet stand because your mother told you to always coordinate.

Sodavalve: The Hand-Saver

Sodavalve: The Hand-Saver

Designer Injoon Yang has grandma to thank for this clever gadget! After noticing her struggling near the refrigerator, he realized she was having difficulty opening a bottle of soda and took it as an opportunity to design a universal replacement cap that users can keep at home. Similar in shape and function to a spigot, simply replace the regular cap with one of two ergonomic handle designs for easy twisting on and off! Vid after the jump —>

All-in-one Fire Fighting

You really need to have nerves of steel to stay calm in an emergency situation. More often than not, we tend to panic and delay evacuation, especially when a fire breaks out. All the essentials bundled into one makes it easier for us to cope with the stress of the situation.

The Less is More Folding Bike

The Less is More Folding Bike

Designed for the urban commuter, the Occam Cycle makes it possible to transition between public transportation and riding in a cinch! Similar to a full-size bicycle, the riding style is familiar for most (minus the seat) so users will adapt quickly. More so, users will find that it’s even easier to fold and unfold than other folding bikes. Why? Because there’s simply less TO fold! Less folds also means less weight, less time, and less stress. The Sweetest Smartwatch

The Sweetest Smartwatch

While traditional blood glucose meters only display a snapshot of your levels, Sugar (love the name!) uses a continuous skin glucose meter to monitor how your levels change over time. The unique wearable unit is designed to display glucose trends so you can see where you’ve been, where you’re going and how your levels are affected by food and activity. Used in tandem with a smartphone app, wearers can take a quick glance at their wrist to check their immediate status, or access their long-term recordings via their phone at any time.

Very Personal Training

Very Personal Training

I have hired a trainer to help me plan my exercise routine and one of her main tasks whilst I workout is to keep an eye on my posture. It is very easy for us to get it wrong, simply because our muscles in those area are weak and tend to stay in their comfort zone. This of course results in injury. To prevent this, especially when you are working-out alone, we have here the Smart Trainer concept.

The Modern Space Age Stool

The Modern Space Age Stool

With it’s aerodynamic shape, winged seat and functional rivet accents, the C5 bar stool subtly reminds of aviation, but it also draws inspiration from the iconic Googie architecture of the 1950s. With its exaggerated geometries and spacey shapes, its a quirky addition to industrial-style interiors. Presented in a stark white and natural wood contrast, it’s also sophisticated enough to compliment kitchen islands or the household bar.

Sculptural Semitransparent Seating

Sculptural Semitransparent Seating

Camou is an everyday chair that focuses on variation for the body. Inspired by the posture in horseback riding, as well as textile constructions from architecture, the chair provides flexibility of movement to create a variety of sitting positions well beyond the norm! With its form the result of function, the result is an organic shape enhanced by a “transparent” 3D textile that creates interesting visual effects as the viewer changes perspective. It’s something totally different… DO WANT!

The iWatch Effect

The iWatch Effect

What is the iWatch all about? It’s a little about being a wearable device, time teller, sci-fi and magic. Perhaps we are getting ahead of ourselves here, but since we are into the home stretch and the iPhone 6 will be soon announced. It’s only fitting that we feature this beauty envisioned by Benjamin Schuster.
