Illumination Meets Optical Art

dana_01

Inspired by Victor Vasarely’s Optical Art, the Dana pendant is a lamp that plays with shadows to create an optical illusion of non-objective art. It gives the viewer the impression of movement, stressing the relationship between form and function. The viewers perception will include ambiguous figures, line interference, chromatic vibration from different viewpoints as well as the superimposition of elements in space. To achieve this, two semi-spheres act as the foreground and background in a tense and contradictory juxtaposition. This creates two patterns of lines with a single common point: this being a cable that ties the entire system together.
