I save water by using a bowl to collect water when i have a shower, then i use that water to clean my backyard concrete areas.
I also save water washing dishes following these steps: 0- remove de food remains from dishes with a paper or cloth 1- fill a bowl with hot water and a drop of dishwashing liquid. 2- Clean the dishes inside the bowl. 3- change the water and give a final wash to the dishes.
Another water saving technique, is having sowers together with my girlfriend. Very funny

I save water by taking really really really FAST showers
Aaron "the water saver" Delgadillo says
Below are a few things that I do to save water. In no particular order.
1) make sure the flappers in the toilet are always up to par. Just changed 3 two weeks ago
2) Put a 2 litter bottle full of water in the tank of the toilet. Works best with only Sprite bottles
3) Collect rain water for my garden. A simple hack for my garden.
4) Put my water heater to warm the water at a temperature that is perfect to take showers. That way I only have to turn on the hot water and not mix with cold water.
5) Only take a shower when my girlfriend yells at me……..

I turn off the water to shave in the shower. I empty the dog’s and cat’s water into the plants. My cat has a fountain so his water is aerated and doesn’t need replacing daily.

Turning the water of while brushing your teeth saves water.
tbrisebras says
I save water by filling up a water can while I wait for my shower to be at the right temperature. Then I water my plants with it.
Yalda says
Our family is very cautious about water saving.
1. We never buy bottled water. We purchased a fridge with a Pur filter, and it tastes great.
2. We never run the dishwasher or washing machine unless there’s a full load.
3. We installed aerators on our faucets. It reduces the amount of water you use but still gives good pressure.
Aaron "the water saver" Delgadillo says
Good tip on the aerators!

Saving water by turning off water while brushing teeth, using aerators at the faucets, rain barrel for the garden and the dogs are happy to get leftover water from the human glasses (for some reason they think ours is always better).
Paul says
We save water with fast showers, only running a full dish washer and bathing the children in groups (small children sharing the tub).
KB says
Filter my water and turn off the water when teeth brushing.
Justin says
Aside from the usual, turning off the water when brushing my teeth and taking quick showers instead of bathes, I also do the following:
1.) Do not do any dishes, at all.
2.) I flush only once a week or go on my fire escape.
3.) I typically don’t do any laundry, hence my massive credit card bill every month. YES I CARRY A BALANCE.
AND…
4.) I only drink beer and wine.
Corry says
I save water by not watering my plants. Whether or not they live is beside the point.
I also save water by demanding that my landlord fix all of the drips and leaks and the running toilet in my apartment.
Oscar says
I save water in the winter because I don’t wash my car and I don’t need to water the plants nor the grass.
Mario says
Beside turning water off when shaving, showering and similar, my house is equipped with container for collecting water (rain) from the roof.

Just replaced our water heater with an energystar heater and set it a notch below “hot”, our family is making a concious effort to take shorter showers, turn off the fawcet to brush teeth and shorter runs for the outdoor sprinklers.

We do a lot of baking and cooking, so we have a filter in the kitchen that cleans and recycles the water.

Wow. Everybody is doing a great job at this. I guess I’m not saving as much water as I should be, but with a little help from the Delta Pilar Touch Faucet, I’d be saving water and energy!
David A says
Here in Australia, we’re forced to save water due to decreased rainfall in recent years.
I save water by using my dishwasher to clean my dishes. I’ve carefully calculated the amount of water it uses, compared to what I previously used – and the savings are huge.
I also redirect water from my gutters into a rainwater tank for use on the garden, and for flushing toilets.
Savings are also made by doing little things like using mulch in the garden, as it helps to stop the water evaporating and thus the plants don’t need watering as often. I also have drought-tollerant plants and grass.
Washing machine waste water is also redirected into the garden to water plants.
shawn says
I’m saving water by taking “Navy showers” (http://bit.ly/NRjAa), lowering the level of water in my toilet tank, wearing clothes at least twice before sending ‘em through the wash (on quick cycle), and by hand-scrubbing dishes in the sink with a small pool of water instead of the dishwasher or a constant stream from the faucet.
A new Delta Pilar Touch Faucet would be a fantastic addition to my arsenal of conservation!
Rade says
I save water because my current kitchen faucet doesn’t work
Tristan says
I don’t. But I do mass produce it for a living. Eventually it will end up in the ground again and I’ll bring it right back up for you

With two kids who love to crank up the pressure, the easiest way is to turn it down under the sink. Low flow baby.

Im a regular reader of yanko but I had never have the desire to participate untill now… Im from Mexico City, so I really appreciate the value of water… since the past years my family and I developed many ingenius ways of saving drops, now all combined means a lot of savings. For example we have a roof garden with perhaps more than 80 green bushes all lined up and staggered that requieres only one large cube of water a week we recycle from the cold water gathered before my sister shower. Our laundry machine is in the upper floor and is only used when a complete load is gathered (perhaps once a week, for the three of us), my mother buys biodegradable soap and its used as less as possible, because all the water is flushed to the garden and planters (jardineras) (by the way we dont used softeners bleach and others, we are kind of green freak´os). Also in the first floor bathrooms (2) we use a pipe switcher dissposal (let me explain the best I can: the shower has two strainer with two different pipework. One goes to the drainage and the other again is recicled to the garden. The last one collects the cold water form the start and whatever part its not too soaped. And again we use ambient friendly products during the shower.
Our toilet is water saver, and it´s flushed as little as possible. Our dishes are clanead “ipso facto” so we use the minimum water and soap for achieving a clean dish. I almost forgot it a long shower its unthinkable here. During the rain season we gathered froom the gabled roof so much water we flood the laundry room/ tank water room.
In fact our house is the greenest, the more eco-frinedly (not only water, also water heating- heating, saving of food, selection of products… and its not because we need it, its becasue we choose a more non-nature-agressive kind of life, HHAHA instead of wishing a videogame I hope we get a kit for energy produced by solar cells)
Hope we get that amazing kitchen faucet by “Pilar”
By the way, great site¡¡¡ keep it on
And happy Christmas to all
