Kinetic Cell Phone
The Atlas Kinetic Cell Phone concept focuses on greener technologies without sacrificing design. It’s all made of aluminum and glass. The central sapphire glass reveals the generating and charging unit. Power comes from kinetic energy similar to that found in watches that use oscillating weight to power a mainspring.
The phone only contains basic features. None of that fancy multi-media stuff. If power runs out because it was sitting still for too long, just give it a few upside down turns to get the kinetic rotors going again. Now you’ll never have to worry about batteries.

Hahaha it looks pretty ridiculous, but not in a bad way I don’t think. It would be an interesting conversation piece, at the very least.

Nice concept with the kinetic power system, but I don’t think people are willing to sacrifice usability for this. The circular number pad just doesn’t work: as texting is at least as important as calling, people need a square pad they are used to. Nokia and other manufacturers have occasionally experimented with non-square keypads, mostly in their fashion-models, but they’ve been misses more often than hits. It seems you can change the shape, colour and texture of the keys, but shouldn’t move them too far away from the square array.
I’d think the kinetic system would be cool enough without it having to be the main focus of the design, as well. With wrist watches, you generally can’t tell the kinetic ones from the rest based on design only.

I think that concept will be commercially available if it was smaller.

This was my idea a couple of years ago. I want to know what is stopping this from being commercially available? Not this concept but some kind of kinectic cell phone model.

This is the kind of thing that we need nowadays. The way we get electricity is way less civilized than the technology we have. It’s about time that somebody came up with something like this

I love this idea! I am required to find a “Green Gadget” and make a commercial about it. This is my pick….and I love it!
