Gateway Building for Ras Al-Khaimah by Snohetta Studio
Sheik Saud and Rakeen of Ras Al-Khaimah has appointed the Norwegian architecture firm Snhetta the prestigious task of creating an iconic gateway building for the new capital city of Ras Al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates. The approx. 300,000 m2 complex will contain a Congress Center, Exhibition Halls, Shopping Center, 5+ Star Hotel, 5 Star Hotel, and a 4 Star Hotel.

It does look really really cool. I love the green areas inside of the interior circles. In that location they will get less sun and be protected from the hot desert winds probably allowing for the growth of some non native plants as well as acting like an oasis in the desert. The material its made of looks like it would shed the dust and sand easily. And can you imagine how the desert night sky would look from a window of one of those top towers. its a place I will never see, but the kind i would dream about.
