Go-Anywhere Personal Heater

Designed with outdoor workers in mind, the Lumus heater is an innovative, mobile single-person heating system that uses a built-in heating coil and integrated fan to produce a “heat cone” around the user, keeping them toasty in even the most frigid of weather.  Simply stand on the dot to activate the unit. No open flame and no CO2  production make it a great way to keep warm indoors too.

The James Dyson Award is an international design award that celebrates, encourages, and inspires the next generation of design engineers. It’s run by the James Dyson Foundation, James Dyson’s charitable trust, as part of its mission to inspire young people about design engineering.

    I don’t understand how this works. Do you have to stand on it the whole time for it to work? if so then it is useless. Need more information on its functionality.

    Years ago I saw the electric heater for the feet. Marble slab with built-in heater. It was used by vendors at the market. Anyway, someone will be happy to use.

    With the green drive for environmentally friendly and energy saving ideas, this really is a turn for the worse.

    Just imagining how much energy you loose this way.

    * Efficiency while charging.
    * Energy leaking away from battery over time
    * Efficiency of the heating element and fan blowing * hot air all around trying to heat the basalt plate.
    * The basalt plate trying to radiate heat to the person on top reaching probably only up to his knees.

    How about just wearing an extra sweater.
