Once again it is time for the YD Design Digest; A compendium of easily digestible design delights from around the inter-webs. First up is this yummy looking sofa design by designer Ron Arad. Called the “Do Lo Res”, this sofa is a set of separate chocolate looking cubes anchored at the base.
It’s election time (no, not that election) Absolut Vodka’s “ABSOLUT ELEMENTS 2008” has posted their finalist and they need your vote. Check out the finalist and make some lucky designer happier than a drunk on New Years Eve.
Counting sheep has never been more stylish than doing it in this uber-chic sheep stable dubbed appropriately “Sheepstable” by 70F Architecture. Located in Almere, the Netherlands, this space was intended mostly for educational purposes with easy and up-close access. Apart from the public function, the Muslim community will be able to buy the lambs they need for yearly ritual purposes.
Who knew LED technology could be so FUN? Check out the newest star in Los Angeles, the Ferris Wheel at the Santa Monica Pier has just had a major face lift which includes over 160,000 LED lights. Partly powered via solar panels, the giant wheel is a much more brilliant and energy efficient spectacle.
Life’s stories are about perspective. That is the basic premise behind Italian designer Joe Velluto’s “M.A.S.T.” installation containing a video performance that could be watched from a number of positions. M.A.S.T. – Modulo Abilitativo Sensoriale Transitivo or Transitive Sensory Living Module was commissioned by floor coverings brand Novabell. Why? Not really sure… I guess I need to see it from their perspective.
