Sticky Voice on the Wall

Sticky Voice on the Wall

Record me is an ingenious way to pass on messages and stay in touch with busy family members. Most of us have adopted the sticky-note-on-the-fridge routine; Record me changes this to a voice message that can be easily recorded and played back. The video explains the procedure and I think it is a clever way to stay in touch, I mean I’d much rather listen to my son speak than decipher his scrawny note!

Quintessential Quadricycle

Quintessential Quadricycle

The StroM Bouqetin is unlike any other quadricycle design in that it’s optimized for serious trail riding and touring. The rear-wheel drive, single-rider cycle features full independent suspension, dual shock rifles, a variable ball-gear drive, four disc brakes and a lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber body. Add some physical strength and you’re ready to attack the off-road.

The Wavy Tea Set isn’t just nice to look at- the layers and unique organic form are purposed as such that each fits naturally and comfortably in the user’s hand. The alternative “handle” design was inspired by the process of glass blowing and captures the pulling action of hot glass being formed.

The Quantum Theory

The Quantum Theory

Quantum Tap gives you a good reality check on how much water you ‘think’ you use and the actual. Working on the lines of how syringe works, the tap activates by pulling up a pump action-handle. Scaled markings on the stem of the handle indicate the amount of water that will be released by pulling the handle to a specific correlating height. You can choose how much water you want to use and pull up the handle accordingly. The faucet looks neat and the idea pretty simple; my only concern is soapy hands and a messy tap.

Chop 'n Pour

Chop ‘n Pour

Experience is a good teacher they say and designer Junjie Piao learnt a good lesson with it. A stint in chopping celery sticks left him frustrated, especially when it was time to scoop and transfer them to a bowl. He decided to “design something to make this process easier without disturbing slicing.” Thus was born Pour-Smart, an L-shaped plastic piece and a bar of strong magnet. The contraption allows you to chop and easily transfer food from the cutting board to a bowl. Simple and very useful is my verdict!

Wrap-around BB

Wrap-around BB

Very rarely do designers venture into the BlackBerry turf. I think the perception of it being a serious business phone deters concept enthusiasts. For the moment we have this refreshing concept, which capitalizes on the new screen technology that is flexible, lightweight and transparent. Iterated as candy bar and a slider, the phones feature a “smart” wrap around screen and knows the difference between an intentional command and a hand holding the phone!

Tiffin Proportions

Tiffin Proportions

Dabba means lunchbox in Hindi and is inspired by the Dabbawallas of Mumbai. This ingenious design aims at making you choose healthy food options and pack a balanced meal for work. Each box displays a food icon and is sized to keep portions in check. I love the combination of bamboo and silicon used, and if things go well soon the Dabba will be available at a store near you.

Fingerframes

Fingerframes

Framer Concept Camera is an easy to use digital camera that makes picture-take a less stressful job. Forefingers and thumbs have often been used as an intuitive benchmark for focusing and clicking photos; Chun uses this same principle in making his device more user-centric. We are a photography-inclined generation and innovations that focus on not overwhelming us by simplifying tech advancements are always welcome.

Direct Power

Direct Power

The Autonome is a mobile phone concept with a unique charging feature. The regular way to do this will be to directly plug-in the phone to the wall socket, negating the use of any cables. Alternatively, you can detach the specialized module, tank it up and then hook it back to the phone and transfer the juice. This ways you get the freedom to use the phone whilst charging the extra ammo. I love the magnesium unibody frame designed for this, and of course the practical solution for charging. Ideal for travelers too!

Aesthetical Approach To Pleasure Toys [NSFW]

Aesthetical Approach To Pleasure Toys [NSFW]

Time and again we have seen designers trying to shake the image of sex toys being loud, crass and inartistic. We have here the Whoop – de – doo set of Classic Vibrators, Venus Balls and Vibrating Egg; slickly packaged and designed for pleasure giving, and yes they are artistic. I think it helps that a women designs these products, simply because she knows what she wants. As for the tech-specs, the toys come with a handy induction charging system, making them completely wireless and hassle-free.

Split Table

Split Table

At first sight the Split Table seems to be like any other, but take a closer examination and you’ll see there are no nuts, bolts or glue. The table is held together only by tension and flexibility between its plywood pieces. The functional joints is as much a part of the aesthetic as it is the construction. Best of all, you can own the limited series table here!

Protect Your Paws

Protect Your Paws

I’m not sure if coffee is getting hotter, or we’re all getting more sensitive, but if you’ve ever grabbed your coffee cup after putting a cardboard sleeve on it you know that it can still be hot to the touch. A little modification to the original and problem solved! The Muggie sleeve features an extra handle that transforms a basic cup into an ergonomic mug that will protect your caffeine-craving hands.
