Audio Eye-solation

Audio Eye-solation

The Sony EYEDIO speaker brings expert-level directional sound to the average user. The unit is capable of pinpointing sound, localizing it to a specific area so that only people in the audible zone can hear it. Thanks to its eye-inspired shape, EYEDIO can move in any direction, horizontal or vertical, without moving its location. Jam to your music without disturbing others, set an alarm only you can hear, or use it to get the attention of anyone in your line of sight!

The Ultimate Hipster Headphones

The Low Fi Hi Tech Headphones are an exploration into building a pair of fully functional headphones without any line-produced part. Composed of just wire, tape, solder, magnets and a few 3D printed parts, the design is surprisingly not rickety and the sound quality is nice against all expectations. In a sense, it’s lo-fi in both audio and material quality! —Want to print your own? Designer JC Karich’s 3D printing files are available here!

The Pick Up and Play concept explores adding a tangible element to the service, using a compact speaker and touch-screen cubes to harness all the Spotify functions. Shake em to mix things up, line em up to create a playlist, or even gift one to a friend as a customized mix-tape! Not the most portable option, but it’s a fun, interactive player that’s perfect on your desk or coffee table.

Bell Sound

Bell Sound

The Bell Sound speakers are an unconventional twist on home audio that are composed of super-strong parallam, an engineered wood material most often used in the construction industry. To contrast the natural wood tone, each speaker rests on a hand-turned aluminum base. Though modern in material, the elongated, exaggerated bell shape hints to the design’s original inspiration- the gramophone.

Ghetto Blaster Backpack

Ghetto Blaster Backpack

Appropriately named the Boompack, this portable audio design was inspired by the iconic ’80s boomboxes often seen on the shoulder of rappers and breakdancers. Designed with these street-performers in mind, it’s easily transportable and usable while moving. What makes it truly unique is a orientable 200 lumen Pico projector for adding moving video or slideshows that take the entertainment to the next level. Not just for street performers, it’s also perfect for parties, the beach, or cruising on your bike.

The iPhone Theater Experience

The iPhone Theater Experience

Sure, the iPhone is capable of playing full-length movies… but what’s the point? Mr. Perfect isn’t so perfect when it comes to the right ergonomics for watching your favorite flicks. That’s where the iPhone Theater comes in. It’s a headphone/phone holder combo with a slightly steampunk aesthetic. I chuckled a little too… but it’s actually pretty awesome! I don’t care how many looks I get… I waaaaants it!

You Got That Super Bass, Ceramic Subwoofer

You Got That Super Bass, Ceramic Subwoofer

I wrote about Joey Roth’s Ceramic Speakers way back when and reviewed it. Hell, I even own a set connected to an Airport Express to enable Airplay. It’s been my main setup in the bedroom for years but due to Joey’s own desires to expand the line or calls to improve the speakers’ bass response, there’s an accompanying ceramic subwoofer to complete the setup. I’ve yet to hear it in person but plan to very soon post holiday shenanigans. Hit the jump for deets!
