World's Largest Wristbound Curve

World’s Largest Wristbound Curve

When you’ve got a watch on your wrist, you’re constantly saying something about yourself. That’s changed since the beginning of watches. When wrist watches were first invented, you definitely said something about your identity when you wore one. Then there was a long period when everyone had one – it was standard to have one. Now, in this age of pocket-sitting clocks on mobile phones, again the age of wrist clock fashion is born. Curve ID knows this.

Wallet Delight

Wallet Delight

Men are more obsessed than women about their hair! I don’t have handy stats to prove it right now, but when I look at my son, husband, father and male friends’ behavior in relation to their mane…I totally get the drift. Pavel Sidorenko puts men out of their misery of finding a reflective window at every step, by designing this really neat flexible mirror for the wallet. The size of a visiting card, it slips into the wallet with ease, and is made from plastic. Handy and cute!

Casting Shadows Of Love

Casting Shadows Of Love

One of YD’s team members is soon to tie the knot, and I’m sure he must have picked the ring already. But just in case he hasn’t I’d like to suggest the “Heart Of Love”, a symbolic expression of love. The ring and pendent design try and replicate the ever-popular image of a wedding ring on the bible with casted “love” shadow, and do a pretty good job of it. Call it trick photography or simply the play of lights; undoubtedly it can’t get mushier or romantic than this!

What Do FIFA Referees Lack? Third Eye

What Do FIFA Referees Lack? Third Eye

It only takes a stinky fish to dirty the entire pond, and this year FIFA has 2 fishes tainting their image. To rub salt over our wounds Sepp Blatter apologizes but still says FIFA has reservations over incorporating technology into the sport. I have only two words for him: England and Mexico! Even a money-spinning sport like cricket has adopted the third umpire into the game, because we are only HUMANS! FIFA too needs a “Referee Third Eye”.

Best Of Machine And Digital

Best Of Machine And Digital

The Mechanized Digital Watch features a digital font but manipulates it to function as a “mechanized” number because the elements of each digit physically move to create numbers. Every digit is composed of 7 panels and to create a number, panels on the watch face recess revealing contrasting sidewalls. Thus creating the outline of a digit and a whole lot of fun!

Japanese Wooden Sandal Update

Japanese Wooden Sandal Update

They don’t have rockets, they don’t transform into anything, and no, they do not have ice skates pop out the bottom of them.* What they DO have is a couple lovely innovations that designer Silvialy Tjhin was ever-so-thoughtful to include. Silvialy Tjhin created these in a class whilst at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where in a Methods & Materials class, was going through a lesson on woodworking machines, and Tjhin, being an ever-so-clever utilitarian, created a pair of shoes.

Three Dimensional Wrist Communicator

Three Dimensional Wrist Communicator

It’s that time again. It’s time for the Mac. The dude who keeps coming hard with the strangest, wildest, most fantastically cool looking conceptual designs on such a regular basis that I can’t believe he doesn’t already work for a super secret design corporation run by time traveling aliens from outer space. Wait. I’m getting a message from Mac. He can see what I’m typing and is telling me to hush up! Oh jeez! Better just talk about this new design – “Dew”, it’s a conceptual mobile communication device that works in three dimensional projection space.

Solar Energy, Band-Aids and The iPad

Solar Energy, Band-Aids and The iPad

Those kooky but fun Korean design gurus are at it again. You’d be surprised how hefty the iPad is and that smooth surface is just begging to slip out of sweaty hands so the Band are band-aids you stick all over the back of the iPad to create traction. A little too kooky for ya? How about the Solar Panel Bag – yes a backpack with solar cells arranged into Steve Jobs’ favorite fruit. Let the whole world know you’re an Apple fan.

Danger Alert Enabler

Danger Alert Enabler

A view of the ambient noise is what this device hopes to give people with less than a perfect sense of hearing. The fashionable bit of the Danger Alert Enabler, is the wristband, but it also comes with a “micro device.” The way these two bits work together is: sound goes in one, comes out the other. But as the micro device, which sits on your belt, hears sound, it interprets it and translates it to a corresponding pictogram and in some cases, a vibration for warning.
