First Class Bus for All

First Class Bus for All

Let me share with you a moment of personal experience. It’s about busses. All my life I’ve ridden busses, busses to school, busses to downtown, but never, until I visited England, did I realize the important role busses played (and play!) in the lives of EVERYONE in the world (except for those rare folks who live so far away from roads). The moment I realized the importance of public transport, the moment I sat on a bus and realized what was happening, a light turned on in my head. A light turned on in the head of designer Jonny Hassall, too, and this project is the result!

One Gigantic Talking Table

One Gigantic Talking Table

The designers at KINZO have bestowed upon the world a gigantic table. This gigantic table is designed and executed by KINZO for Ernst & Young, a group that hates hitting the toes of the people they have meetings with. It’s a huge table, one that depending on your perspective looks like, quote, “a starship, a deep-sea ray or a hydrofoil.” It’s an epic atmosphere for epic meetings, making whoever’s in the meeting seem quite epic.

No Spokes Cycle

No Spokes Cycle

Seems to be a cycle fest on Yanko Design today, the second installment comes in the shape of the Lunartic Cycle. A bike that’s got a really unique combination of different wheel sizes, a toothed belt drive and hub less rear wheel! The USP being the gyroscopic effect of a large wheel aiding speed and more road-surface contact adding stability. The small front wheel saves space and enhances maneuverability. For a change, here is a concept that goes into a working prototype to prove its point, hope you enjoy the video!

One Curve for Photo

One Curve for Photo

Hey all you photographers, get out of that camera box! Lemme show you something. This is a camera shape I’ll bet you a dollar you’ve not come across before. This is Yaniv Berg’s Digital Reflex Camera (DSLR), and it’s like a chute. The camera body is one in the same with the camera lens, while the curve at the end shows the image to your eyeballs through a fabulous rectangle interface. Another interface appears along the side. How about that? Like a tube.

Push and Grab

Push and Grab

This is a rather unique sort of table and drawers situation if you ask me. This is a project whipped up by designer Nenad Kostadinov and what it consists of is a curved table with rotating drawers. Rotating! No more silly pulling and shoving for you, nay! Now there’s lots of swooshing. This is a low height wooden living room table with four of these unique drawers made for storing magazines, knick-knacks, and all manner of small objects.

Fold Your Saddle

Fold Your Saddle

It’s time to fold that transport all the way up. Get atop your bike, ride it, then store it. No more leaving it outside for bike thieves to chop up for you, nay! This is “Le Pliable,” a fold-up bike concept by Saul Maret. This one’s based on the central headset position with an X silhouette. Foldable in the frame, saddle, pedals, swingarm, and handlebar.

No Touchy Basin

No Touchy Basin

The Spout Faucet Basin is ideal for those freakish about hygiene and no-touching-taps kinds. It’s also for those who enjoy aesthetic appeal with a little bit of high-tech. Basically the design features a sensor activated mixer tap, with the temperature being set via a small dial. Unfortunately, this dial will require you to “touch” it for adjustment, but more importantly it also encases the override button, which pours out a steady stream of water. All the mechanical components are neatly tucked outta sight in the internal cavity behind the basin, offering a very neat wall mounted unit.

Too Many Ports At Once

Too Many Ports At Once

The literal explanation for the “Change”, multiple ports hub is quite weird so I’m going to stick with my inferences of the product. The hub is basically a station where you can hook up all your computer peripherals and media gadgets and from it a single wire goes into the CPU. Right at this moment I’m glancing down to where my CPU is, and the mess of wires going into it really looks icky! So will something like this “Change” hub make a difference? Maybe, or maybe I just need some tacking wires to straighten things up. Better still opt for wireless devices!

Concrete Veil and Shade

Concrete Veil and Shade

When it comes to architecture, I feel very much drawn to two things – subtlety, and dominance. The building you’re about to look at is certainly at least one of those. See if you can guess which one. Designed by parisian architect’s office Studio Bellecourt, this fantastic vision is made up of a white concrete veil and 25 MILES of aluminum sun shades.

Electronic Injury Rescue

Electronic Injury Rescue

This project right here is known as the EAGD aka “Electronic Ambulance Guidelines Device. It’s an electronic information tablet made by designer Matteo Trisolini for JRCALC (Joint Royal Collage Ambulance Liaisons Committee) and the NHS Ambulance trust to replace the current paper handbooks being used today. Made to be understandable by paramedics and ambulance technicians of all ages (between 18 and 65) so that even the “aging” UK population can take part. Environmentally constructed, simply and ergonomically shaped.

Hangin on Rings

Hangin on Rings

The first thing I said when I saw the images of this concept was “brilliant.” I am not kidding you, scout’s honor. This is truly brilliant. This is “Ring Hanger” by Sooyon Park, and it’s one of those things that someone sits there writing down everything they can think of about hangers and comes to. They come to it, they write it down again, and they say “hey, this might just work!” And they try it, and it does. And it’s ringtastic.
