At $219, the OmniStar L80 gives you a theater-like experience for nearly half the price of an Apple Watch…
In the world of tech competitions, we often see things like “fastest processor”, “biggest screen”, or “highest-resolution camera”. What we don’t often see is a claim like “World’s Brightest LCD Projector”… so when the OmniStar L80 brags about it, with a $219 price tag no less, you bet we take a closer look.
Designed by the folks at Casiris, who’ve been around in the projector-making business for 11 years now, the OmniStar L80 is their latest LCD projector with a pretty bold claim – at 1500 ANSI Lumens, it’s the brightest LCD projector ever made, dethroning your conventional LED projectors to give you a bright display that’s easy to view even without requiring absolute pitch darkness. The native 1080p display, which can go all the way up to 200 inches in size, is complemented by two 15W built-in speakers for an immersive experience, whether you’re watching movies, documentaries, or even the sport of your choice.

Built on Casiris’ custom 5.7-inch LCD projection module, the OmniStar L80 outputs anywhere between an 80-inch or 200-inch screen, with the latter being achieved through a 19-foot distance away from the wall. According to the folks at Casiris, the OmniStar L80 is approximately 3x brighter than other LCD projectors, while doing the tricky task of being 1.3x more uniform with its projections. The bright 1080p output offers great clarity along with high contrasts while being able to output 16.77 million colors for that vibrant effect you’d otherwise expect from a television. Except, your television probably doesn’t stretch as wide as 80 or 200 inches.
The projector also has built-in autofocus and auto-keystone features, making setup incredibly easy. An adjustable pillar on the base lets you incline your projector as much as 15° for that perfect placement, and if you’re looking for a ceiling-mount arrangement, the OmniStar L80 offers that too.
The game-changing visuals are complemented by OmniStar’s audio system – powered by not one, but two 15W speakers and a subwoofer to provide booming audio to match the massive projections. However, the audio can be accessed as a standalone feature as the OmniStar L80 transforms into a Bluetooth speaker when you’re not actively using the projector. Connect to it like you would a wireless speaker, and the OmniStar L80 fills your room with rich, balanced, punchy audio, practically giving you a speaker system free with your projector.
At 11.3 x 11.4 x 7.1 inches (28.7 x 28.9 x 18 cm) in size, and weighing 11.2 lbs (5 kg), the OmniStar L80 isn’t the most portable speaker… but given its capabilities, portability doesn’t need to be its strongest feature. The innards contain a large LCD projection module and an audio system with a whopping 2L acoustic chamber, making the compromise more than worth it. The projector natively runs Android 9.0, with support for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi channels, as well as Bluetooth 5.0. On the back, it houses two HDMI ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a LAN port, and a 3.5mm output just in case you want to route your projector to an even fancier home theater sound system. It ships with its dedicated remote control too, allowing you to navigate its interface just like you would a television.
With its discounted price tag of $219, the OmniStar isn’t just cheaper than most televisions, it’s nearly half the price of an Apple Watch. At that price, the OmniStar L80 is an absolute bargain for anyone looking to invest in a projector to level up their movie nights or game nights. The OmniStar L80 is also built to be IP5X dust-proof (it isn’t waterproof) and comes with a 1-year hassle-free warranty and a 7-day money-back return policy, with shipping beginning as soon as August 2023.
