Minimalistic yellow chair is a simple experiment in the bending and twisting of metallic tubes

I spend most of my day cocooned away on my work chair and typing away to glory. By the time, I’m done with my day and get around to doing other things, my back can feel mush – if I don’t have the right chair to work on! Most of the time we underestimate the importance of a great chair and don’t pay enough attention while selecting one. When in reality, we really shouldn’t. We spend the majority of our day sitting on chairs, whether we’re working in our home office, enjoying a meal, or simply sitting and reading a book for leisure! Hence, this piece of furniture needs to be not only comfortable but ergonomic and aesthetic as well. It needs to provide good support to our backs and butts, and also somehow harmoniously complement the rest of the furniture in our home, and our interiors. And, a pretty good-looking chair design that completely caught my attention is the Tone Chair.

Designer: Marko Filipic

At first glance, the Tone Chair grabs your attention for a variety of reasons, primarily because it is oh-so-simple in its form, and yet so solid in its character. The Tone Chair was the result of the exploration of a simple metallic tube and bending process on the part of Filipic. Four tubes, and and two pieces of sheet metal were used to build the chair. The two pieces of sheet metal were used to form the seat and the backrest, while the four metallic tubes were utilized to construct the legs of the chair.

The various metallic parts of the chair were harmoniously bent and welded together, to create a smooth and linear furniture design whose various components effortlessly merge together. Some of the weld seams have been left exposed, to further showcase the simplistic metallic beauty of the chair. For the color scheme, the designer adopted a bright and loud yellow, which adds manifolds of character to the stark and minimal chair.

However, the yellow-toned chair is only one of the options, the second option is a bare silver chair in which the metal completely speaks through. It has a harsh and rustic appeal to it, which completely contradicts the visual appeal of the yellow option. Both chairs will appeal to different kinds of buyers, so you can pick the one that perfectly complements the interior decor of your home!
