The Flower Council of Holland has commissioned Arne Quinze, Fredrikson Stallard, Karim Rashid, Studio Job and Arik Levy (all famous names in the design industry) to design 5 New Fiat 500’s. The catch is that they had to design them using flower so as to raise the awareness of the uses of cut flowers. It sounds kind of odd, but the results of the finished, flowery, Fiat’s are quite mesmerizing. Not too sure they would be safe driving around town with the flower petals flying in your face. Neat concept and pretty unique use for flowers.

Toyota is getting seriously body conscious with its latest fuel efficient concept the 1/X. Taking everything they learned from their highly successful hybrid Prius, Toyota is looking for more ways to squeeze every inch from a gallon of gas possible. This 1/X concept design was built from the ground up with light weight materials, with which they hope to double the Prius’ already impressive mileage ranking.

Tired of people calling your Earth hating SUV a living room on wheels? Well send those people to hell and blaze a new path with this winged sofa design by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon for Bisazza. This installation dubbed “Jet Set” will be shown at this years Milan Furniture Show. “Set in a very glamorous hangar, this aeroplane is a light-hearted work with an unusual and enchanting look, complete with a glass cabin, leather wings and coloured missiles and symbols alluding to love…”

Well, not really. It’s real name is the XO Move. But it looks like a transformer and almost acts like one. The concept is that when parked it transforms and locks up for security. It is adaptable to user needs, can carry one or two persons and sports a variable wheel base to make it more stable on the roads. Possibly it can take on Megatron too. who knows?

There is a wind blowing from the east and it smells a little like wasabi, ginger and fresh paint. It turns out its just Mazda showing off its latest design direction, the Mazda “Taiki.” Inspired by the shape and flow of wind itself, Mazda declares the  exterior lines are inspired by wind flowing through a Hagoromo, the “flowing robes that enable a celestial maiden to fly.”

Believe it or not this sexy concept is almost ready for the streets as is, more unbelievable than that, its from Suzuki. You read correctly, someone at Suzuki got the memo that good design just might equate to more sales and this Suzuki “Kizashi” (Kizashi means Prelude in Japanese) is seriously good design.

Like to ride your bike after the sun sets? Are you a real Night Rider? Confused as to why trucks don’t seem to notice your pleads for attention and keep slamming your bones around the city streets? Well if you like life and don’t want to die while cruising down the avenues after dark, this bike design by Rudi Moosmeier called “Tong City Bike” just might be all the vehicular enlightenment you’ll need.

When someone says your car looks or drives like a go-cart it’s not considered a good thing. Despite how much fun they are, it seems no one wants their car compared to one. Maybe transportation designer Florian Dobe can put a spin on the stereotype with this little concept. Sporting tiny 10″ rims, this vehicle is equal parts sportscar and go-cart.
