Coin Sized iPod by Jlennon
Let’s face it - in the digital world, size does matter. We like our devices small, but who wants to compromise their sound With the new iPod xs, we’ve compressed all of the sound that you could ever ask for in a package that you have to see - and hear - to believe. Your sound at your fingertips. Weighing in almost half an ounce, and measuring at only a little more than a quarter, the iPod xs is small enough to fit in your pocket, but it is stylish enough to fit with your music.

Jeez - I have a hard time keeping track of my keys. I shudder to think of the many & varied ways this iPod will get lost. I love the idea, though.
The scale is all messed up. You’re trying to tell me a headphone jack is the same thickness as a coin? Get real. I could sit here all day and design crap that isn’t plausible but that would make me a crap designer. Plus, Greenwink is right - there is a point at which stuff becomes too small. You’ve shown us what happens when you go beyond that.
Also I’d like to know what resolution that screen is - 50px by 50px perhaps?
Again - get real.
Method of generating ideas:
Step one
Find successful technology or product
Step Two
Disregard all practical links to reality in the form of producible tech and ergonomics.
Step Three
Shrink it to the point of absurdity
While the headphone jack would fit in, at 3.5 mm (sorry luke
) you would then not be able to have a screen, battery or buttons over 0…. well, 0.0mm, as a wall thickness of 0.3 would be silly too
sorry, make a prototype, do some technical drawings, and then maybe you will get what we are saying
I think it would need to be a bit thicker, or maybe closer to a 50 cent piece in size to fit in the 3.5 jack and maybe a serial port? with some work, its possible.
actually i think if you just use a cellphone style jack (the tiny ones) and include an adapter in the package you may pull it off, oleds etc would help too. buttons should protrude a lil to allow for space for other stuff (in a bubble wrap kinda way) flash is a given. i think this is actually somewhat possible.
Well folks, can anyone else see the thickness dimensioned on the picture ..4.1mm. I think that should say enough for pals here shouting about fitting a 3.5mm jack.

The iPod is perfectly fine. Your design will just degrade it.
