Bottle So Beautiful And Full Of Light!
Bottle Light: the concept is simple, instead of trashing an empty PET Bottle, squish it properly and screw it onto the modular aluminum LED enclosure! Normally we just end up discarding the bottle, but using it in this manner; we can get vivid shapes and refracted colors for lights. I know this idea will click in theme restaurants that are eco-centric. Not much costs involved since you need to invest only in a couple of those LED lights and holders.
The Bottle Light won a Liteon Award this year!

Very cool. I would add a mirrored flange to hide the connection point and direct more light through the bottle

Cool, but im just wondering…the heat to which it is constantly exposed, can cause release of harmful chemicals right?
But overall ingenious idea

If u use right bulb there shouldn't be heat?

Nice intention but I don't like the output. This doesn't help much with the elimination of waste nor with the functionality (not antiglare and not diffusion of light, and I'm sure there is some problematic condensation in there)
. That doesn't help neither.
That is called down-cycling, I think we should upcycle things for a better living. Maybe we can use some dirty PE disposable bags as tshirts

That's amazing, would work perfectly in the living room.
To Alex, I would imagine that the light doesn't heat it at all.

PTE Bottles itself is not environmentally friendly. Why is it that some people do not understand?

Ingenious idea, what this does :
1.The PET bottles are put to good use , non polluting when used as light.
2. If proper heat syn is used the LED will not at all emit any heat.

hmm – not really sold on this one. Cool colours make it look good but at the end of the day you still have a load of all trash hanging from your light fittings!!

in the text on the first image (displaying 3 PET bottles with different LED lights) it says:
“(…) PET bottles take more than 10 years to decompose completety.”
as a matter of fact tey can take up to 1000 years to degrade. maybe that should be rephrased a bit.
