Condom Protects You From Viruses!
Ding ding, yes it’s true. Condoms can significantly reduce the likelihood of you catching some nasty virus except this condom is designed for the digital kind. Computer viruses are just as virulent as the biological variety, just as insidious, and just as detrimental. The Condom USB is a device that acts as a stopgap between any USB enabled device and your computer.
As soon as the Condom USB detects a virus, built-in software shuts off USB access, verifies the problem, removes the nasty bug, then reopens the communication bridge to your computer. Snazzy but would this really work in the real world?

Possible you do get portable versions of the mainstream virus scanners. The issue would be the admin privilages needed to cancel a service on windows vista and restart the adapter.

I suppose what it could do is shut off the connection between itself and the connected USB device upon detecting a malicious program. Or for an added security level, all data passing through the USB connection is scanned as it passes through the “condom”, so I guess it can work both ways. It would probably slow down your transfer rates, but better safe than sorry I guess!

hahhahaa

this is fun!

for saltynay’s comment: if this “condom” reach the market, no one will be using Vista anymore!

I think it’s a fun idea, very marketable (team up with Trojan maybe?) However the features are something that should just be present on the USB drive itself. So this may be a cute accessory now, but later it will become useless.

Obviously a lack of technical knowledge is present here. USB is a communications standard and a USB drive is nothing more than NAND memory attached to a small microprocessor facilitating the USB communication. The only way to have a “stop-gap” between the PC and USB device would be to have an additional microprocessor scanning the files. And even that would be redundant since the PC itself could do that faster than an external microprocessor and the standard external USB storage device driver would have to be updated with new messages.

hardware doing what software does already..!

if this condoms really worked out in the said manner and filtered and killed all the deadly viruses, the nuisance of spy ware, anti virus ware alerts will be eliminated and the demand of anti virus software drops drastically. NizamHM

Shouldn’t a normal antivirus software do the same job?
