Bubbling Up in Dubai

The architecture duo Reiser + Umemoto are starting to get real with their O-14 office building , rising over Dubai. The building is has a perforated structural exoskeleton that doubles as a giant sunshade for the building. So column-free office space and desert sun shading all in one iconic skin. In our exclusive construction photo gallery the lozenge-shaped foam form work for the perforations can be see, as well as the almost fabric-like weaving of the reinforcement bar that gets encased in concrete.

The first photo is so beautiful. It looks as if it’s the architect’s rendering, and if the finished structure captures this beauty, it will be a wonderful feat.
