Reflected light on paper can be annoying, especially when one is reading. Soft Light provides the user with a luminescence that can be positioned to best suit the user’s needs. It functions both as indoor and outdoor lighting, and gives the user the flexibility to “mould” its form to suit specific environments and conditions.

Tile + Light is a series of five differently configured customizable light fittings that is designed to be adaptable to different environments. Their modular configurations enable the user to arrange them to relate to the spatial qualities of particular environments, or according to the user’s preference.

We all know Hansel and Gretel left a trail of breadcrumbs and pebbles to find their way back but what happens if life ever imitates art? Would it work? Breadcrumbs would obviously degrade so designer Mi-Sook Lee focused on pebbles that light up. The butterfly shaped rocks would light the way back to civilization for any wood be travelers lost in the maze of trees.

Monica Förster has created a unique design that we can add to our favorite cordless collection. Load is a cordless and portable light. You can charge the light up and receive lighting for up to five hours.

Have you ever found while looking through your closet a bunch of hangers that have no clothes on them? Normally, we throw them away and don’t think twice about it. 101 Design Studio had a better option for those extra hangers. They have created “48”. “48 is lighting design made from 48 metal hangers. The design comes in both a standing and hanging version.

Imagine walking into a room with bags of crystals hanging from the ceiling which seem to be glowing in their brilliant glory. In Miami, at the Design Miami show held at The Moore Building, located in the epicenter of Miami’s Design District, Swarovski Crystal Palace unveiled an exhibition featuring Light Sock by New York-based architecture firm, Diller Scofidio + Renfro.

ETree is an interactive electroluminescent floor lamp that invites the user to interact by moving and playing with its strands. The effect is very similar to slow shutter photography of people waving around lights.

I’m going to start this post with an IMHO because it’s a great example of how simplicity in design means complication in function - which ironically is the opposite of what Apple stands for. Designer Miyoshimasato envisages the iLight, an Apple designed flashlight.
