Sandbank Sofa
Sandbank is an outdoor sofa made out of sandbags, which is inspired by the Kubus seat of Josef Hoffmann and its grid. This stack of cushions can grow or diminish by adding or subtracting pillows and form different configurations from one-seaters to oversized sofas.
The black pillow on top is a do-it-yourself kit. It contains a bunch of empty white polypropylene covers ready to be filled with an enclosed scoop. Take it with you and build up your own version wherever you want, preferably close to the sea. At high tide you can put your toes into the surrounding water.

cheap imitation of of gaetano pesce’s idea 20 years ago
I don’t think anyone would take hundreds of sandbags to the beach just to make a sofa. And not a very comfortable one at that. What’s wrong with inflatables?
at 50 pounds of weight for each bag (22.4Kg) that’s well over 5 tons (5000Kg) of sand that’s needs to be bagged and stacked, not my idea of a vacation at all, and probably not legal as well, as it would be considered a permanent structure. Sorry, unless the purpose is to make people come to the beach to help build dams against flooding this is one idea that just won’t float.
