The Apollo Moonwatch

The Apollo Moonwatch

Lots of reasons to love it! For me, it’s that I pay very little attention to the moon & therefore know very little about its phases. Embarrassing… but true. This timepiece is not only a reminder that our celestial pal is there, but an educational tool that illustrates the moon’s changing phases. Also, I’m so reliant on my smartphone that I often forget to wear my watch at all. This fun multifunctional feature definitely provides some incentive! So maybe you’re into astrology, are a space buff, or like me & not at all. Either way, its hard not to find it cool for you.

Rings of Saturn On Your Wrist

Rings of Saturn On Your Wrist

One look at this timepiece’s outer rings and you’ll see why it’s named Saturn. Its unique digital display rides through time by propelling its hours and minutes through black segments. The hour can be deciphered from an outer ring of 12 segments and minutes from an inner ring of 60 segments. Now available in polished silver. Get it here!

The Swatch Ring Watch

The Swatch Ring Watch

This unique timepiece represents the absolute simplification of a traditional wristwatch! No hands, no numbers. Just two colored rings on a vivid e-ink screen. The result is a clean, minimalist look that marries perfectly with the watch’s eye-catching aesthetic. In contrast, its signature crown gives it an analog familiarity while providing longer battery life.

MB&F Legacy Machine 101 Features First In-house Movement

MB&F Legacy Machine 101 Features First In-house Movement

As a watch enthusiast, I understand the pain and pride behind developing an in-house movement. So this time around when MB&F announced their Legacy Machine 101, my interest piqued as it houses the very first movement developed entirely in-house by MB&F. Dominating the dial is a monumental suspended balance wheel, which is another point of interest in terms of design and functionality.

Feel the Time

Feel the Time

The Ehsaas (feel) watch was designed on the principal of the Braille reading system to give sight-impaired users a familiar and easy way to tell the time. Over a glass layer, an advanced electronic active polymer material raises against an overlying plastic substrate. Pixel circuits form and change with the time in the form of Braille so wearers can feel time. Vid after the jump!

The T-Block Effect

The T-Block Effect

Watches are to men as diamonds are to women; both count as the number one fashion accessory and are timeless. Innovation is of essence and creative ways of telling time is a novelty factor. Beyond doubt, complications and mechanical watches are the epitome of technicalities, however due credit has to be given to path-breaking manufactures like the T-Block Watch. Designed to dress the wrist, the most challenging part is to resist the linear display of time!

Watch Challenge!

Watch Challenge!

Here we have the Watch ‘Bolt’, a creative timepiece for those who like holding speed records and the likes. The basic time reading is easy, however two red hands and a cut white and black dial makes things different. Any guesses why are they designed thus? C’mon use your grey cells for a change!

It’s KAARI Time

It’s KAARI Time

KAARI is a concept watch based on the standard 24-hour analogue mechanism (half-speed hour hand). Only one half of the watch face showcases the time as two arc shaped die cuts encapsulating the dial. This is how the watch works: the hour hand rotates 360º in 24 hours and can be seen through the smaller radius arc. It is designed as a disc and divided in two equal segments of different colors.

Let Your Imagination Take Flight

Let Your Imagination Take Flight

Inspired by our shared childhood fascination with flight, the Jet Pack takes aesthetic cues from stealth fighters, as well as integrates the playful qualities of geometric building blocks. Using Tessel’s trademark faceted textile, the Jet Pack is both rigid enough to protect cargo and flexible enough to provide comfort to the wearer. Get it here after you watch the awesome vid —>

Brooklyn Heritage Meets Modern Design

Brooklyn Heritage Meets Modern Design

I wanted to support this Kickstarter effort by Design Unsanctioned of their Spencer Collection because it illustrates how modernity does not necessarily mean stark. Modernity is just a reflection of our aspirations of what we want the “now” to be. Any material can be used to articulate modernity. This collection of bottle openers and key straps uses heritage materials but through modern technology like laser cutting – gains a neoteric purpose. It’s not my style but I appreciate the beauty in its warm minimalism.

Minimalist Minute-Counters

Minimalist Minute-Counters

Julien Guenning’s GREYHOURS watch duo is a statement of minimalism and modern style. Both the black/blue and white/red versions have a soft aesthetic but a combination of super-strong sapphire glass and Italian leather make them highly durable. Simplistic yet elegant, it’s a perfect timepiece for casual daily wear. Check out the lifestyle vid after the jump —>

Chic Cycling Shoe

Chic Cycling Shoe

The Urbanized Cycling Shoe was designed with two goals in mind: keep riders dry and look good while doing it. With standard cleats riders must carry a second pair of shoes to change in to after riding, but this concept is less rigid while being more waterproof, making them comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Built in LED lights at the heels also provide a layer of safety not offered by current cleats. Minimal, sleek and stylish, you might find yourself wearing them even when you’re not cycling!

Another iWatch!

Another iWatch!

Just when you thought the iWatch concepts had died a natural death, we spied yet another concept that is based on the current Apple iOS7 and other “leaked” information. Take a look, drool a bit and get back to normal life!
