Puffy Bookmark
The ABRACADABRA bookmark aims to make finding where you left off and opening to that page easier. I didn’t know it was an issue but now I hate my ordinary paper bookmark. The ABRACADABRA contains an air-filled chamber, half of which is flattened by the weight of a book. Squeezing the exposed side inflates the concealed side lift the page just enough for your finger to slip in.
And just for fun and giggles, old ABRACADABRAS can be arranged on a paper pot. Yea, a paper tree, a paper pot, and graphics that look like something else.

unrelated: Good to see you guys back after yesterdays incident. Was anything lost/ stolen?
Yanko Design says
Hi Ian,
Only our database was affected (totally whipped out), but the files were left intact. Thank god we have daily backups of our database!
We are still trying to find out where the vulnerability was so we can prevent this dude from hacking us again.

Nice execution. Simple. Problem solved.
prodmod says
I love this because it is simple to manufacture, simple to use, cheap, and it can be very decorative.
great idea!

Don’t suppose you could tell me where to purchase some of these, could you? Thanks!
Luke says
You can’t. The vast majority of stuff on Yanko Design are either prototypes or concept renders.

simple yet innovative, well done. The next step, pitching the idea to a producer and let us know where we can get our hands on it.
Darrone says
Hmmm. simple and efficient. but lacking a cool name…
ParJoe says
That’s a cool idea, but I always just end up using scraps of paper and sticky notes. I usually leave them in a book when I put it on the shelf too.

Can I buy this?
If I can please mail me.
AlienzExist says
Unimaginably clever. You could sell a billion of these.

This design strikes me as totally functionless. I’ve never had any trouble using the old-school “bend/lift the bookmark slightly to get my finger in there” trick.
And, since the part outside the book is the same size as the part inside, I think these would get knocked out of the books a lot.

30 years on, I’ve yet to have a problem with paper or ribbon bookmarks.. not sure why I’d need an inflatable one.
IrisMR says
Practical. Simple. I like it.
CampSteve says
This assumes your book will stay tightly closed all the time. It’s meant to be on a part of the book farthest from the binding (so the inflation action works). But if you pick up the book, it’s very likely something like this will fall out. Regular bookmarks stay in the book because they are placed near the binding where it’s tight. This product won’t work near the binding because the tightness will keep it from inflating. Flawed, flawed, flawed.
This is a solution looking for a problem but the problem is this isn’t a solution.

Kind of a neat idea. Sorta looks like 2 mini-whoopie cushions joined at birth. If they made the sound I’d TOTALLY get them.

That’s good idea~!! I like it

Cool idea too bad people don’t read books anymore.
Bri says
are you serious?
“too bad people don’t read books anymore.”
i read AND buy books all the time! i love books!
jennee says
Useless (I can open my books, thankyouverymuch), but ohh so cool!
Sammy says
A very cool idea… nice and simple, but still useful enough that I’d buy one.
A small suggestion, though: might it stay in the book better if the “interior” tab was extended further? (Not with a filling bladder, but just a ribbon-like extension that would nestle nicely into the groove along the spine, perhaps.)

I wanna buy!!!
I wanna buy!!!
I wanna buy!!!
I am going to buy this & give to all my friends who love reading (^__^)
Pls let me know if this is for sale~!

Ridiculus idea, either fold down a corner of the page your on, use a proper leather bokmark or just remember the page you were on. Using a thing so small and light is ridiculus. As a previous comment said, this is a solution looking for a problem and there is no problem for it to solve.
lackar says
Excellent! I want it now! Though I don’t read book any more.
lauren says
If they fall out it defeats the purpose right? And paper book marks are a more green choice as they are biodegradable. Like we need more useless plastic clutter. ugh.
Jeff says
I agree that this is a solution looking for a problem. In my opinion this is one of those things that one would buy, use once, then never use again after realizing it didn’t solve anything.
chrispi_ says
very, very nice… i do wanna have some of these!
are they already available? where can i buy that fancy stuff?
plz tell me!
cheers

wow ez nagyon jo otlet, de egy extra lett volna ha mondjuk a levegovel egyutt/helyett a levelforma tintaval toltodik meg.
Its a nice idea, but the magic thing would have been if instead/with the air, a black tint from the gun would flow into the leaf-shaped “pillow”, thus forming the leaf form with the coloured waer. So it could have some hippie accent, like make love not war.
-sorry 4 my weak english.
xXblahXx says
it’s gonna fall out. I just know it.
Monkey says
It looks incredibly small to be used as a bookmark. It will fall out.
It seems like a product for looks only.
Luke says
It looks nifty at first glance, but I have to wonder how durable this thing is.
I’m personally not too concerned with it falling out. That much could be solved fairly easily by making a foldable plastic tab on the leftmost edge stick out towards the binding, making it look more like a traditional bookmark.
